Want to know a secret about CrossFit!? 🤐 🤫

Despite being labeled as the unknown and unknowable, I made it to the CrossFit Games by squatting, olympic lifting, and following a progressive overload. My training volume and intensity were both very high, but the training itself wasn't super complex.

And it wrecked me - physically, mentally, and emotionally. After retiring, I knew if I wanted to continue training, I needed variety. Variety with my training is what helped me get back into a consistent training routine. It motivated me to show up and I could complete a session without my body feeling like I got hit by a car.

So, instead of canceling certain movements because they look weird, let's start appreciating all types of movements that add variety to your training. As long as they are safe for you, keep you moving, and motivate you, I'm supporting them. Remember, we're in it for the long game! 🤝

ive never been down on crossfit. i don't do it myself [i like Olympic lifting/ basic squats n deadlifts, etc.] but i lift in a CF gym. i love it. dogs, loud tunes, group support, and coffee brewing at all times. cheers!

Love it brutha variety is so key! Have you ever tried Bjj or muay thai to mix up your fitness?

How do you progressively overload but have variety at the same time and progress on those as well. Variety turns into junk volume

Military style chin ups, not that bouncing/flailing unfinished motions i see so many doing. That is all.

At my specific CrossFit gym, I was looked at, & mocked for trying to do different things, like knees over toes movements & interventions required because of my age to improve mobility.

If you don't fit in with the in-crowd shortly after getting there, man is it uncomfortable.
