CrossFit Games to continue following athlete's death, organizers confirm

According to competitor Chandler Smith, a meeting was held Thursday afternoon to discuss whether to continue the Games.

People responsible for athlete's safety MUST be held responsible for not reacting the way they should have!

Lazar didn't have to die!

He died because the rescue services failed to help him while many people were telling them he is drowning, onlookers were even forbidden to help him themselves.

Tragedy that could have been prevented!


The fact that the games will continue is a disgrace for the whole CrossFit community!

I can't believe they're continuing with the event... I've never seen any sports even that went on after a death of an athlete. This is morally really wrong.

why running before swimming?
athletes were already oxygen hungry before they hit the water.
a Dangerous programming sequence at best.

There's a reason why triathalons START with the swim. To be expected to do that after a 3.5 mi run is insane.

I really don't care what CrossFit says. Inexperienced lifeguards. Live Broadcast. The ridiculous idea of changing events every year. Definitely seemed unsafe but in the last 2/3 years there seemed to be some understanding that this can get dangerous really fast. The long distance events (especially the ones that require multiple *professions* in a single event) were particularly difficult to watch as athletes would fall to their knees from first to last after events.

I was a new fan this year, if you watch back many years have 2/3 horrendous events that put the athletes under ridiculous pressure with time cuts, endurance and poor weather conditions be it too hot, too cold or too much rain. Unfortunately it's too painful (and honestly vile) to recognise it took one of their *TOP ATHLETES* (LAZAR WAS A BEAST THROUGH THE YEARS) for them to now *maybe* realise they've gone too far.

Totalmente vergonzoso, cómo pudieron permitir que un atleta se les ahogue delante de los rescatistas???en el en vivo se veia que algo raro pasaba con Dukic😢... tuvieron que llegar al extremo de perder a uno de ellos para empezar a pensar en la seguridad...por una cuestión de respeto deberían suspender los games y reprogramar la fecha, para honrar su memoria y acompañar a la familia y dejar que su hermano lleve su luto en paz

America Congress hold UFC Cage fights too dangerous, when there are doctors, medical person next to them. But they let this thing happen. I guess UFC wasn't that dangerous after ALL!

Those who chose to NOT carry on, have the option to withdraw, and I respect their decision. If someone dies in the OLYMPICS, WORLD CHAMPS, would they cancel "NO". FFS let's see who pulls out, understand if BROTHER does.
