it's worth mentioning on the attacker side to take notice of the pitch/sound of the diffuse noise. if the spike was halved already and they got off, the diffuse noise has a higher pitch when they get back on. they helps you know they've already halved it before without having to peek it, or just know you only have less than 3.5 seconds to work with.
