You guys should worry a bit more, we stopped everything and the virus is still spreading, don't want to imagine what will happen in a country with no public health system and more cases of diabetes than the population of Italy itself.

A fan from Italy here.
I won't really engage on this intro being unfunny or distasteful bc I think it's subjective.
The only thing I feel to write is just reiterate one thing: DON'T MAKE OUR SAME MISTAKES.
Don't underestimate the magnitude of the problem. Start, right now, to go out less you can. Use every precaution necessary. Do not stay too close to other people (at least 1 yd).
Be cautious bc your politicians will most definitely not deeply understand the situation right away, so take action against coronavirus now guys.

Not funny, uncreative and in bad taste. My heart goes to all people affected with this virus esp. those who can't fight it easily. The elderly, the poor, the marginalized risk paying again the highest price. This is a time to take humanity seriously.

Medicare for All is looking ever more attractive and necessary...

I love Colbert, and he’s given me a lot of solace in our anxious recent years, and especially lately, but this really is insensitive and opportunistic. 👎🏽

That was very insensitive. Never thought I would have to tell this to the Colbert Show. Italy is in serious trouble. The implications of the virus are immense. That ain‘t funny.

We are just being precaucious, and probably the only country giving the real numbers and doing lots of tests

Is it just me because I'm Italian or is this really just bad taste?

Yeah, this really isn't going to look good in a couple of weeks.

You may want to consider removing this video.

Comes across as incredibly insensitive and it's only getting worse.

MUCH worse.

Add this to the flooding that recently happened in Italy and I think it's safe to say Italy has had a rough year.

Y'know what they say...
Feed a cold,
Starve a fever,
Serenade a coronavirus.

Well, I am not sure that this is comedy at all, because we are not allowed to go out of our homes unless is a proved necessity like going to work, health emergency or other needs (Orange Zone, Piedmont here...) It feels almost like martial law for how depressing it is. (Yet is reasonable, because the more will fall ill the more will need intensive care and there's a limited number of beds in intensive care unit so... In Lombardy they are already talking about triage, choosing who will be taken care of based on their survival chances, like during war. ) So, I can see how this skit could be considered funny(absurdity view) or insensitive (reality view) depending on what you choose to see. Honestly at this point I'm just so worried for my mother I can't really say it's enjoyable, even if I don't resent it. But seriously Colbert, it would be wiser to tape the show with no crowd... When covid is everywhere it's too late to take precautions.

Isn't it a little inappropriate to make jokes like this while people are dying in Italy?

Love Colbert, but this is not funny. Wrong chord struck here. USA as far as I am aware, have more underlying health problems than Italy, and no Public Health Service. This could be extremely serious.

You have to admit, this isn’t funny. You fail badly on this one.

I love your show and everything you do Stephen, but the situation in Italy is quite serious and should not be made fun of. I have relatives in the region of Venice, who are affected by this ongoing nightmare. I believe that jokes should not be made, knowing that they'll rest on the shoulders of those who are suffering. I know you are a very compassionate, intelligent and kind person. Therefore, please use your influence to further educate your viewership about this upcoming challange. Thank you, and greetings from a fellow nerd in Germany!
