As athletes, our tendency is to want to immediately intervene and take action, especially if we're anxious about missing a workout. But if you feel that bit of tightness or soreness -- resist the urge to dig in and overstretch. Nine times out of ten, the best remedy is to back off for a day or two, let it breathe, and give your tissue time to relax. A little patience and the courage to moderate a workout or two can do wonders. Most little niggles will resolve within 36-48 hours, so stay smart, take a deep breath, and let your body do the work.
