Here's something I just learned. My Roku Ultra remote just stopped working tonight. Wouldn't do a thing. I checked the batteries with a tester and they were dead so I changed them thinking that was it. No Joy. Luckily I have the remote app on my Iphone and it controls the ROKU just fine so I knew it wasn't the box itself. I found your video tutorial and followed all the steps. Still nothing so I figured the remote itself was kaput.
Then it dawned on me, having had similar experiences with other battery powered devices I carefully examined the battery contacts in the remote. Three of the four were shiny and clean but one of the negative contacts was corroded with a coating of green oxide on it. I used a small file to remove the oxide, put the batteries back in and the remote is working like new again.

Thanks for this info, but I'm gonna have to disagree with the "HiFi audio" claim. Running your audio through an exciter cranked up to 11 does not sound HiFi, it sounds brittle and harsh.

Worthless. My remote has a rechargeable battery so can’t remove the batteries.
