Is your Roku remote not working? There are a few simple steps you can take to try and fix your remote. This includes some pairing options and possible replacements. Thank you SO MUCH! Just found my Roku remote after almost a year, changed the batteries, and could not activate Roku. So I unplugged my power and replugged and VOILA! Batteries too weak is the most common problem I have had when a Roku remote doesn't work unless Roku freezes. In that case the solution you mentioned of resetting by unplugging the power solves the problem. A new remote needs to be paired as you stated but that is usually a one time thing when it is new.

I have a Roku remote that charges up so no batteries. So I did everything, like unplug and reset but still not working. Then I remembered an old trick with old remotes years ago where you press every button on the remote. It worked! I fixed it!

That little button inside the remote fixed my problem. My ear wired buds stopped working. It looked fine on TV as it showed the volume icon when put together but I could hear nothing. After your video and that little button unknown to me was put to the test that was all it took to fix my problem I had been moping about. A great big thank you. You are my hero. ❤❤❤❤❤

If you look at a single battery you’ll see that there’s one side ( - ) that has a spring and the other side ( + ) doesn’t, push the positive side’s corner down toward the negative side’s spring and the battery should come out fairly easily.

Do not shake out batteries from your remote like this @1:12! Push the battery, with your nails or any tool, on '+' end toward '-' end and lift the '+' end. There is a spring at '-' end that allows that.

It turns out you can do a “reset” more or less on the basic remote (for the rokustick) by pushing the back button and home button at the same time for about five seconds. There will be a little green light right next to the power button that will start flashing. The green light will quick flash 3/4 times when the remote has reconnected.
Unfortunately I had to reset my Roku stick, but it didn’t change much. Because I have more than one Roku tv I was still signed into everything, including the app.

For us that have CHARGER version I tried this:
On the back & lower part of remote there is a button about the size of a small pea. Press on it for at least 20 seconds. I tried it and it worked as it got the green light blinking again!

OMG, thanks for this. Was driving me crazy. The App download worked as a last resort, but then I was able to reset the green light, rebooted the stick and it paired up again.
