I have EXTREMELY hooded eyes. Over the years (maybe 7) I learned to use more of a patting application than a swiping application. I also use flat brushes vs round brushes. I also take my colour way up past the mobile lid.

I'm 62 and discovering HOW to put on makeup for the first time. All my life I eschewed makeup as "not for me", but after watching makeup videos like yours, I've discovered a new hobby all at once! Now I can't get enough. I find your makeup reviews and tutorials accessible, affordable, and gorgeous! You also, are a breath of fresh air and down to earth. One of your looks on your top 10 palettes of 2020, I think, made you look like the effervescent Lucille Ball! Thank you for all you do for the makeup community. Blessings!

My way of blending made easy is to use translucent powder to blend any harsh ages. As Z said, applying a light colour on top of the shadow can make it a muddy grey, but the powder doesn't change the tone of your eyeshadow. Just apply a small amount to the brush and blend the harsh edges. It's like an eraser, it just blends any harshness away

My biggest struggle is adapting looks I like to my hooded eyes

My only eye makeup trick aside of learning about blending with you. Is once you line your waterline with whatever color you choose go over the eyeliner with the same color eyeshadow using a very small angled brush or flat brush. It will make your tightline last a lot longer.

Since I started using skin colored shadow after the eye primer, everytime I forget to do that, I can tell cuz blending is much harder and does not blend easily. Thanks for that tip!

I’m 79 but still love makeup. I need lashes snd would appreciate your input on some that are shorter and more appropriate for an older lady. Thank you; have a super day! God bless!

I have hooded eyes, 72 yr old ones. So your tutorials are helpful even though I can't pull off your looks! Thank you gorgeous!

Less is more! Yes! So agree. My personal saying is “go light handed” when applying eyeshadow. It’s been a game changer for my shadow looks. Even a bold look needs a delicate touch.

I feel it’s important to mention the eye size as well the brushes you showed are actually to big for my eyes if I lay that down it will cover lid to brow lol, I use a tighter packed brush but much much smaller probably what you would consider a stiff detail brush I have very small and very hooded eyes if you’re like me find brushes like I said and keep your eyes open while applying your shadow and obviously you have to go above your natural crease . Also for your shimmer apply like a halo style and go up higher with it so it’s visible without having to look down or close your eyes having small very hooded eyes i had a huge learning curve because not many people have eyes shaped like mine, my eyes are more on par with Oriental Heritage even though that’s not my Heritage I learned so much from watching people with my eye shape we need to remember there is no right or wrong when it comes to makeup. Once you have the basics for your eyes shape then you learn blending and still learning blending I have no real skill or talent but I absolutely love doing and wearing eyeshadow, I’m happy with my skills for the rest of my face makeup, I’m so much better with my brows now than I am eyeshadow and most say that’s the hardest to learn when you have almost no brows to begin with I gotta draw them in and shape them and I find that easier than eyeshadow lol .

I like those sort of flatter blending brushes you used for deepening the crease. I will go in with it long ways and lay the color down in a very precise way. Then once the color is down where I want it and most of the product is off the brush I turn it sideways to blend

Great tips, blending has always been the struggle for me, with my hooded eyes it's hard to get to blend, so the shadow doesn't end up looking like one color. Looking down to check how everything is blended is a great way to see how I'm doing.

Thank You! I am always on the hunt for smaller, more compact brushes. I have hooded and aging eyes. Most brushes behave like clubs and manipulate the thin skin around the eyes too much. Smaller brushes are helpful because a patting motion, rather than a windshield wiper motion, helps to move the skin less.

Zabrena, can I just say, I appreciate so much what you said at the end of your video. That IS what we are here for! I don’t have girlfriends who are interested in makeup so these ladies help me so much! Thank you! ❤️

A brush cleaning pad is amazing for quickly cleaning off residual color. This is perfect when you’re trying to be quick and don’t have time to wash out your brush between colors.
