My color pencil drawings always looks kind of blurry. Now I know why. I blend too much...I blend the whole area.
lots to learn.

I haven't had an art class since high school! I'm retired now and your lessons are so great. I love listening to you as you work. I have been able to do the strawberry and I did a study of 2 cardinals that I'm really happy with. Keep them coming.

Thank you for another great video! I loved the tip about NOT using the white pencil to blend ALL the areas. I see people do this a lot and it really flattens all the color and dulls the final image. Using different colors is a much better option!

What the hell i was just considering using my old colored pencils for a project and was kind of dreading it because i don't have many different colors and since i don't really know how to blend i was going to be very limited. Then YouTube shows me this Hahaha.

Kirsty - Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am 65 and haven't had an art lesson since school (well over half a century ago). I've always loved drawing but never really known how to start learning the techniques. My "projects" always looked amateurish and I was never really pleased with *anything* I finished. When lockdown started last year I decided to try really hard to improve my art (I believe you are never too old to learn). I've followed your tips and techniques, watched your great tutorials and really practised and tried hard. Last week I drew a dog portrait for a friend who lost her beloved pet last year. I was actually proud of it, for the first time ever. She was so surprised she cried with pleasure. I wish I could show you just how much I have improved, thanks to you. I shall keep trying and (hopefully) keep getting better. You've made my retirement so much better - thank you.

I think part of the problem is vagueness in instruction. I remember in highschool art the teacher always said 'you need to build up color before blending'. I always interpreted that as press down and make it as saturated as you can. Then of course I could not add more color or detail.

When I watch other channels drawing and blending they don't usually talk about things in much detail and when I try to use their video for support it ruins my whole drawing! This video has actually helped and now I have a good drawing which I can actually be proud of. Thank you ❤

Very well explained! I especially like how you described where to blend versus where to have no transition.

Your channel is the best for colored pencil tips and techniques! Mostly been doing graphite portraits but decided to start experimenting with prisma colors, was apprehensive, but you help much to understand best ways to get nice results. You have so many great videos on different subjects with outstanding advice! Love your videos 🙂

One of the best teachers, no unnecessary talk, not too technical and right for the creative tips.

This channel has been so much more helpful than all the other ones I've been trying to get information from for years. Thank you so nuch for everything. All these little tips and tricks I've learned, once I use them all together in my process, I've seen huge differences in the quality of my work. I'm so grateful.

Hi Kirsty this was so helpful. Been doing art since I was a lot younger and tried many mediums I'm comfortable with paint and graphite. Trying to dabble for last while with pencils and you have helped me so much. Thank you so much for sharing these details ❤️ you are amazing 💞

This is really practical. I so rarely come across an art tutorial this useful.
