Horrible News about day 1 of the 2024 CrossFit games Day 1 – The Run Swim Event resulted in 1 athlete drowning. Usually with triathlons, the swim was the first event. This swim followed a 4 mile run. While it was in a lake, which tends to be more calm then an ocean and competitors entered the water more staggered than if the swim went off first, it is a wonder how they lost track of a competitor, so much so that he drowned.

Run/swim? This is on CrossFit. NEVER EVER do you swim after any strenuous workout, and certainly not at this level. Shame on whoever did the programming.

I wonder what the cause was. It is always shocking to me how frequently people drown.
