7hours later? When they got back the bus, nobody noticed he wasn't in his seat?

I can’t even begin to imagine how his mom felt watching that video knowing that was her baby’s last moments alive.

Almost drowned once in a lake. Both my legs cramped up, I floated on my back until I floated to shallow waters. I remember how exhausted I was walking onto the lake shore. And a huge migraine had set in. I was with friends and the lake was packed, no one had a clue I was struggling. I’m lucky

I almost drowned when I was kid. I got into the deep end and I started sinking. I yelled for help but water kept filling in my mouth and I started choking. By some miracle a kid a little older than I was grabbed my arm and pulled me back to shallow end. Sometimes I think of that kid, and wish I can thank him.

When he said help, the tears poured from my eyes. This was so heart breaking to watch and my heart goes out to his mother! He deserved better 😔

Seems like he didn't have a close friends there with him. He was ignored.

Why does nobody seem to realize drowning isn't big splashes and screaming for help. It's silently slipping under the water. Please stay vigilant by large/deep body's of waters.

This is heartbreaking! There is no way those kids knew he was drowning and didn’t help him. I wouldn’t let my worst enemy die in front of me.

I almost drowned few years back at a swimming class. As a newbie who had finished days on the small pool, I was asked to shift to the bigger pool. As I got into the bigger pool, i held on to the side bars, the water level came up to my shoulders. No one was watching me, everyone were doing there own things and lots of commotion everywhere. As I let go of the side bar and started to try swimming I couldnt. I counldnt reach the bar anymore as I drifted away. Beneath the water my body was struggling so much, I couldn't understand why no one noticed me. Kicked my hands and legs so hard, when my face came up I saw people playing, swimming, talking, enjoying. Yet no one noticed me. Some minutes later I could reach the bar and got out. Praise God. I still feel traumatised thinking about the day.
Makes me realise drowning happens silently and slowly. If you're ever on a trip or event where lots of people are in the water, do look out. Someone can be struggling.

Sad part is these kids probably thought he was playing around since it was shallow water

He didn’t scream out help. The water muffled his voice. As a person like myself who almost died drowning at 9 years old. It is was so hard to show my urgency for help. Lucky my dad was near there and saw me sinking down. It’s very hard to spot someone drowning. It’s truly a silent killer. And I still remember that event vividly too. I really thought no one was gonna save me

It's unfair to say they "ignored him"
They are teenagers having fun and just not paying attention
The ADULTS should have been watching all of them at all times!

The issue is they went to a water activity without requiring kids know how to swim. The kid should have never been in the water.

So he drowned in water that everyone else was standing up in 3 feet away? That doesnt make any sense.

How did no one see or hear him? That makes no sense and shouldn’t teachers be out watching for the kids if it was a field trip?

First of all, no matter the age, when you're on a school trip and getting into any kind of water, life jackets should be worn to prevent an accident!

This utterly breaks my momma heart. When I was younger I literally had so many close calls with drowning but always had diligent eyes on me. This momma trusted them, and they didn’t just let her down but him. This truly makes me not even wanna send my kid on school trips without me.
