HALO Infinite - Best Scene - Emotional Master Chief and Pilot Moment

HALO Infinite Best Scene. The best emotional scene in Halo Infinite Campaign. Pilot of Echo 216 or Fernando Esparza tells the Master Chief and Weapon just how scared he is. Revealing he lied about being a soldier and stole the pelican he rescued Master Chief with. I thought this scene has easily the best dialogue in the game between the three characters.

Chief’s writing in this campaign is already LOADS better than in Halo 5 BUT THIS SCENE is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! I love how he isn’t being the stoic badass, he’s showing that he’s a human being who makes mistakes just like the rest of us

There’s something about the way he kneels next to him that is so ICONIC. Chief is shown to have emotions in this story, but he is also this Gargantuan symbol of just, Hope. Love the story in this game.

I actually teared up at this scene, I've never seen Chief so vulnerable

I could be wrong but Fernando may be the first civilian that Chief becomes friends with. (Post Kidnapping of course)

In spite of it's flaws, Halo Infinite will always have a special place in my heart.

Having lost my girlfriend to suicide, I can entirely relate to Master Chief's sorrow upon losing Cortana. His emotions affects him as much as my own. The writer did such an excellent job at fleshing out Chief's coping with his loss, not sugarcoating it in the least. Sometimes I can't help but feel like I could've done something more to help my beloved.

This games campaign was absolutely amazing. Echo’s actor conveyed such a deep pain. That’s a man who feels lost in every sense of the word and chief….well chief shows us why what being leader means. What being human means. We all fail. But how we react to it is what defines us.

Despite the faults of 343 in terms of campaign, they have a good track record for writing characters. Chief, Cortana, Atriox, Spirot of Fire, Laskey, etc. have had great characterization.

There are many things about Halo Infinite that make it a truly amazing video game in terms of story, but one of it's biggest factors is the inclusion of Fernado Esparza, the pilot that John-117 recruits, if you can call it that, into his mission to explore the Zeta Halo and find out about Cortana's fate.

Sploilers:
Unlike all of the soldiers, scientists, or AIs that John as worked with over his career as a soldier, Esparza is a civillian contractor who simply signed onto the Infinity to help out with the war against Cortana. As the latter is a civillian this makes him as human as he could be as doesn't have any combat capability at all, a fact made the more apparent when standing combative demigod of the Master Chief. However, this makes him one of the bravest characters in franchise. While he does show fear and anger during first half of the campaign, it is more than he feels that he can't do anything to help since he is a mortal man and his survior's guilt adding to his insecurites. However, he manages to assist John time and time again with examples being awakening the Master Chief, catching John when he jumps off the Spire, and providing him with equipment to help with his journey. Esparza is vital part of John's journey on the Zeta Halo, that John states in this cutscene and shows that you don't have to be a incredibly strong or brilliant to make a difference. All you need is to be brave enough to be willing to help.

Lost my shit when he said his name was Fernando. It made me feel some sort of way that someone in Master Chief’s life has the same name as me 😭

When Fernando asks Chief if he's scared. I go back to Halo CE right when Chief sees the flood for the first time. He reacts, he panicks at the thought of what happened on the same room he was. But he kept going. And that's as human as it gets.

That's when you know he's not just a machine, underneath all that metal there's John.

I think that chief would have actually left halo if the pilot wanted to at this point.

John has just been… losing. For so long. Since halo 4, he’s been losing. And then he meets a random engineer, whose not even a soldier, but a volunteer. A family man—his opposite. And this is his last shot to stop failing.

So if they got to a point where the pilot wanted to leave, then yeah, I think he would have left.
