Two astonishing lenses. Great job Nikon!!!

Fabulous lenses for the Z mount. I shoot very fast moving action with large Nikon F mount telephoto lenses with my D5 cameras. Nikon Z6 and Z7 cameras are not up to the level in focusing of my D5 for F1, Nascar. Get to move to the Z mount if Nikon produces a mirrorless D6 equivalent camera.

thanks for, the great episode. I, deed fantastic lenses. Can yoju say anything about when we can expect the lenses that are essential to the wildlife shooters, like the 300 and 400 F2.8; I am so waiting for the 300 F2.8 with the 2x convertor.

What about screw on filters for the 14-24 S? That's not possible with my 14 - 24 F. I like to keep an UV filter on my lenses if for nothing else it protects the front element. I'd like to be able to use a polarizer at times too. Question answered.

Is it possible to put the 112mm pol filter together with a 112mm ND filter on the cab?

This is a long winded comment and is directed squarely at Nikon - I don't care if other viewers read it or not. The Nikon customer base is looking forward to the new 50mm 1.2 and it promises to be an amazing lens - I will be getting it. That said, and more importantly, MORE 1.2 glass is needed from Nikon sooner than later. Nikon promised fast glass when they introduced the Z mount - glad to see they are finally delivering - but it has taken far too long and this is the only 1.2 lens on the roadmap for the foreseeable future - that is NOT good enough. We need to see much more. We need a 35mm 1.2 and an 85mm 1.2 for starters. It would be great to see a 105mm 1.2 (if possible) but a 1.4 at the slowest as they were able to do this for F mount, so Z mount should be better or the same at the very worst (I realize that other optical qualities will be better like controlling aberrations as well as corner sharpness, but we still need to see ultra fast apertures WITH AutoFocus. The NOCT 0.95 is a great piece of engineering but a highly impractical lens for modern still shooting and small unit video use as it is a manual focus lens (I realize this is basically a cine lens and it is inexpensive and awesome for that market, but for photographers smaller operation video people not so much). There is still room to make an AF version of the 58mm - for example, make an AF 58mm 1.2 and we will buy it. The F mount had a 50mm and 58mm 1.4 - do the same in 1.2 for Z mount. Also we need to see a fast 135mm lens - 1.8 at the slowest (1.4 would be awesome - show us what the Z mount can do!). Finally, make some faster zooms. The 2.8 zooms are great - at least the 24-70 2.8 is (I have the 24-70 2.8 and am waiting for my 70-200) I haven't personally used the others yet but I have no doubt they are stellar. That said, Canon's 28-70 F/2 lens is amazing and it is rumored that they will produce a 70-135 F/2. This is the kind of innovation that I would expect from Nikon - especially having the biggest and best mount. It is really sad to see Canon out innovating Nikon when it comes to lens design given the history of both companies and the fact that Nikon was an optics maker before a camera manufacturers and also given that the first Canon cameras literally used Nikkor glass. Nikon should ALWAYS dominate Canon and the other competition when it comes to glass. I know that from an engineering standpoint I am sure that you (Nikon) would say that the Z lens are optically superior to the RF lenses and that may be the case (I really do not know - I know they are both quite good), but its not just from an optical stand point that Nikon should stand out - its also from an innovative stand point (i.e. different focal lengths than traditionally manufactured and faster apertures - both for primes and zooms alike. Finally, Nikon PLEASE IMPROVE THE TRACKING AF ON THE Z CAMERA's to compete both in Eye Detect AF and in general subject tracking with the Sony and Canons. Sony was the clear leader in this until July of this year (2020) and Canon has caught up to them completely - some say surpassed - in their 2nd generation of cameras - now it is Nikon's turn! The next generation Z6S/Z7S and certainly the pro-line rumored to come next year (Z8 or Z9 whatever) all must have spot on AF. In the case of Eye Detect AF which I use all the time, it has improved after firmware 3.0, but is still FAR behind Sony and now Canon. For example, one problem is that it will from time to time, and for no apparent reason lose track of the subject's eye and insist on focusing on the body or the background and there is no quick way to return it to the eye because Nikon chose to put Eye AF in the fully automatic AF mode. This problem alone means that it cannot be used at events such as weddings where there is only one chance to get certain shots. I would necer risk the AF system losing track of the bride's eye at the moment of the first kiss - that would be a disaster - so the current Eye Detect AF is NOT up to pro standards. Additionally, allow the joystick to function for "helping the algorithm" to understand where the face and eyes are in situations such as this, and/or allow us to move the focus back to the eye by touching the rear screen. Ideally, the algorithms and processors in the next versions of the camera will be so good that they will no longer lose Eye AF focus acquisition, and can thus be used professionally, but even then its good to have the features mentioned above as a back up - Canon does and their AF system for the moment is heads and tails above Nikon's and I am told almost never loses eye acquisition - still, on the Canon you can move the point back to the face using the screen and joystick. It is simply a better design - Nikon could probably fix this with firmware, but it must be fixed in the next cameral released. This is such a big problem that I, and other Nikon photographers I know and have spoken to, would consider switching to Canon over this issue alone. This is a serious statement for me as I have used Nikon for over 30 years and want to stay with Nikon, but if this is not immediately rectified I will have to consider the move - especially now that there is 1.2 glass - with that shallow of a DOF Eye AF must work FLAWLESSLY. Finally, and this goes without saying, and I think Nikon does realize this but just to reiterate - there MUST be 2 card slots on all full frame camera going forward starting with the next ones released (glad you did this with the Z5 - that was the correct decision), and there MUST be a fully functional vertical grip with full controls for anything Z6 or above going forward - its fine that Z5 doesn't have it - that can be a differentiator between it and the new Z6S. It would be prudent to also start using vari-angle touch screens like both Canon and Sony. I realize that Nikon believes that this compromises weather-sealing, but the amount that it does (if at all) is not worth losing the sales that Nikon will continue to lose by not being competitive with modern features - this kind of screen is rapidly becoming an expectation. If it really is a problem in terms of compromising structural integrity vis a vis weather sealing, then don't use it on the flagship Z8/9 (whatever) but it should be on all the cameras below from Z7 down. This feature is far better for video allowing users to video themselves and/or allowing subjects to see themselves on the go, and it is also far better for vertical still shooting from low angles (which portrait photographers - do all the time). Make the changes detailed in this long winded comment and Nikon is guaranteed to ascend back to former glory at least in the medium to high-end cameral market - which let's face it is the only camera market that matters/exists today. The low end is gone forever - lost to cell phones - so focus providing the essential features that pros and enthusiasts want/need (2 cards, VERTICAL GRIP (fully functional with full controls), vari-agle screen, CLASS LEADING subject AF tracking and Eye Detect AF, and finally look for ways to stand out through innovation - the way canon is with many of their RF lenses (28-70 F/2 etc.) I love Nikon and want it to succeed. Furthermore, I want to stay with Nikon - allow this to happen for both of us and everyone else by getting with the program and fast - next generation Z6S and up need all of these improvements if Nikon is to compete with Sony and Canon at this point. Make it happen and restore pride to the Nikon line like in the 70's and early 80's when Nikon was hands down the best. The Nikon customer base is standing by waiting for Nikon to excel again - and new customers who don't know Nikon will come to see why its the best as well once it shows the world that it is not just following the others - This cannot happen without all of these important changes and improvements. Thank you for reading all of this - I hope Nikon adapts and survives in these harsh times in general and for the camera industry specifically. I mean this with the utmost sincerity.

Nikon pls do a 15/16-35 2.8 lens. The 14-24 is way too wide for a lot.

Just make autofocus as fast as Sony and Canon then you are really ready for these lens. I own z7 and its great but you know...

The Z 20 f1.8 is the only competent astro lens Nikon has ever released. Not great astro lens, but competent. It has well controlled coma and astigmatism the likes we have never seen in a Nikon lens. A whole stop better than anything Nikon before it. It is also wicked sharp, almost as sharp as the Z 50 f1.8. Doubt the Z 14-24 f2.8 will be able to match, but for the launch price it would have to. Smaller, lighter, and great reduction of bulbous front element will almost invariably mean tons of non-corrected distortion. Distortion correction is lossy. Can't use screw in filters without an adapter (hood), and with that adapter the filter size is exotic and expensive. Mind as well be using square filter kit. For me, this is a miss. Better off buying the Z 20 f1.8 and Z 14-30 f4 and get the best of all worlds...and for less money.
