Explain (I can't believe we haven't fixed this yet)

This young woman made the same mistakes as me, and feels the same way as I do about them.

American college kids are being trained for jobs that don't exist while turning their noses up at jobs that... well, did you hear that a bridge just collapsed recently? Maybe that wouldn't have happened if we weren't all BAs in normative gender construction or whatever.

Thank god people care about my overeducated dating critiques or I'd be working at Dunkin' Donuts.

Went to a Canadian University and can honestly say the whole system is about 70% extorting foreign students, 20% setting up an environment for 19yr old girls to get run through, and 10% lectures

Something else nobody really tells you is that there is a "risk" with turning something you enjoy into a job. I met a guy who loved golf and he became a pro at a local golf club and he would teach people how to golf. Eventually, he not only hated his job, but he actually started to dislike golf in general. He ruined his favorite hobby trying to "find a job you love and never work a day in your life".

Vanity degrees are worthless, they were created by colleges and universities to exploit taxpayer backed student loans. When the student loan program was created, it was restricted to certain degrees in math, science and teaching, degrees that would lead to employment and also benefit the country.

Colleges began to exploit the student loan program and Pell grants (where students repay NOTHING) when the programs were expanded, they did this by creating worthless programs to extract taxpayer money. Nearly 2/3 of all students receive taxpayer funded grants that don't require repayment.

Between 1980 and 2020, the cost of college increased 1, 200% while the consumer price index went up by 236%, that means college tuition has increased at a pace that's FIVE TIMES GREATER THAN INFLATION.

Now Joe Biden wants to forgive student debt for all these useless vanity degrees, all to buy votes? Time to roll b ack the student loan and grant programs and restrict them to useful pursuits.

This guy is spittin straight facts. I have zero degrees, and didn't even attend a trade school. I had basic understanding of how an engine worked, and began applying to entry level diesel mechanic positions. Got a call back literally two days later...fastest response time I've ever gotten.

I was hired over the phone, with no interview, and started at $26/hr. A year later, I applied to a position with another company that was offering significantly more. Again, they called me THE NEXT DAY. Interviewed a few days later. Explained my qualifications, and answered some basic diesel maintenance questions. Was hired a few days later, and now I'm making $31.50/hr with no degree, no trade school, and only a year of experience.

There are jobs out there, especially in the trades, and they need people. Stop wasting money on framed pieces of toilet paper with ink on them, unless you are planning on going into STEM.

As a nurse, let me tell you, that "dreams versus pay" chart is so true.

Bring back bankruptcy for student loans and mandate that the colleges themselves, not taxpayers, are on the hook for it. Every single problem with the scammy education industry would be solved overnight.

She’s not “more qualified”. She is over-certified and under qualified.

Yeah. I am about to get a PhD in history, and in many ways I wish I wasn't. At least I learned that I like teaching, and having a phd will perhaps help me get a job at a private school or something. But I could have been a history teacher two degrees ago, lol.

The university system is utterly corrupt.

I saw someone just state: "I don’t understand the mental gymnastics some people can do to justify years of hard work on getting their education, but then the moment they receive the diploma they’re suddenly too good for hard work."

I discovered your channel yesterday and it's fascinating.

I can't stop watching and learning.

It arrived at the right time and I needed that.

Cheers from France! 🍻

Our educational system needs a complete overhaul when a YouTube page titled hoe_math provides infinitely more valuable life lessons than a public school.

Edit: the “And they work for Bart.” At the end killed me!

I'm so glad I gave up on my music dreams and became an insurance adjuster! I still play about 80-100 dates a year in a band, but now what used to be my yearly income is my disposable income, and I have a steady job (with benefits and a company car) that more than pays all my bills.
Do the crap work. It's not glamorous, but it's more realistic, and you can still have fun hobbies/side hustles.

Beware not only of sh*tty degrees, but also of bloated markets. Anything too trendy or that has a big reputation of paying well will eventually be devoid of said value given enough time.
