As a former baker I am used to baking soda in many different ways.. but I've never made mud out of it.. as yet! This was an exceptionally handy tip, and something I will try to do for myself at some point fairly soon, or at least as and when I need it! I thank you most gratefully... :)

Best mud video ever! You understood how to explore homemade modelism without Mig, AK, Vallejo or Tamiya products. The result is awesome. Love your video....and your english is perfect! i understood everything!

Luis, good video on mud effects. I particularly like the well-balanced lighting, which highlights the closeups of your work, which in turn does much to enhance the narrative aspect. And for some reason, this clip allows me to apply the "480" setting without the buffering and stoppage that usually occurs at this resolution. It makes for a very pleasant viewing.

Nice video and great tips for making mud effects. I'm working on the Cylon Centurion figure kit and I will try that for the diorama I'm mounting the figure on.

Have a great new year and keep on building man :)

Love great tips like this-am on a tight budget! Dried some peat compost from my garden, sieved it to remove large chunks/fibres and used a pestle and mortar to nearly a powder but not too much- used the baking soda and paint technique (cheap pastel sticks- earth tones, ground down work ok too).Ok, a bit of time and faff but- with a bit of practice and blending look great, maybe not as good as some of the ready made stuff but look fine to me, many thanks!

Instalike! I will definetly going to use this because I dont want to buy anymore stuff, like pigments, pigment binders, more pigments because you need more than one color and so on. Thanks for this you mad genius!

I have gone over to the Dark Side - momentarily, of course - someone got me a tank for Christmas - Airfix's new-tool 1/76 Cromwell IV which I've pretty much built already. It was great again to just glue and glue and glue! Turns out, I have the appropriate green, so all going well, I should be ready for some serious weathering soon and this video was just what I was needing! Between you and Michael, any armour painting I'm going to do is well and truly covered!

Hi, nice video. Just to say you can use talcom powder as an alternative to baking soda. Works just the same. Try mixing cheap artist acrylic paint with lots of tacolm powder. Let it dry and grind it up. It makes very good material for rocks and stones for model scenery. Really ground up it is usefull as a course weathering pigment.
