Make Scale Mud

In this weeks video I create four different types of scale mud for dioramas or war-game bases. The possibilities are endless when experimenting with the teqniques I try in this video.

***UPDATE*** A small amount of mold did appear on the Baking Powder a week later.. I re-painted it and sealed it with some more Pledge floor polish! It may work or may not. I'll try just floor polish instead of water next time.

Thanks for posting this. I am new to model building after forty year hiatus and your first example (brown grout) is the best thing I have found to date.

Cheers for that. If you mix some sawdust with plaster of paris it'll give you some interesting textures. Just be aware that it will shorten your working time. Can always get around that by adding a very small amount of citric acid. I also crush some of my old set plaster and sometimes add that to the mix.

Hmm, living in Florida with warm/hot weather would not be great to use icing for bugs to enjoy.. would Isopropyl alcohol be a better liquid mix instead of water, just curious.. thanks for sharing tutorial..

i know it makes half decent snow effects but how it would mix with other products to create mud i have no idea
maybe in the next part you could try it
