Microsoft *finally* overhauled Windows Setup... (Windows 11 Build 26040)

They didn't even attempt to make an original Setup experience, this seems to be recycled from the Media Creation Tool.

I'm not sure why they aren't making the install image UI resemble the Windows 11 OOBE. It would make a ton of sense for it to basically look the same, but cover the steps before installation. Idk if that's just me, but it seems like a missed opportunity.

The entire first stage looks like they took the Windows _8_ Media Creation tool and just put it into WinPE to handle the first stage install. Other then the slightly updated partitioning page, it's literally just that.
Sorry M$, but in this state, it resembles more like your own OS from 2012 that everyone hated...

if THAT'S the new install UI, I hope someone comes up with restoring the legacy UI in the final build (which I'm pretty sure will remove the option to restore the legacy UI at the beginning)

Why was the setup process so much better and intuitive before...now it's just the most simplistic garbage I've ever seen. There was a time when Windows let you customize your setup during setup without having to use unattended setup.

I just had to reset my PC this morning, 23h2 does not like my nvidia GPU, so I had to force reset the whole OS from recovery, and the 2nd phase is the same (latest ISO from Microsoft) seems like they pushed that along with the windows 10X tablet taskbar as well
