I'm a college student on a Surface Laptop 3 and have had Windows 11 installed on my device for quite sometime now, and the battery life problem is certainly real. I can't make it through a moderate day on campus without plugging in.

Useful Tip: Go to settings -> system -> display -> graphics -> default graphics settings
then turn off "Hardware Accelerated GPU scheduling", this will restore your battery life performance more or less to that which you experienced in Windows 10.
Note: You need to restart your system for the changes to take effect.

As any new OS release it will take some time to get all the "bugs" worked out. I recommend most people waiting 6 months before upgrade giving time for the early adopters to find and fix the issues.

Thinkpad user here, upgraded to Windows 11 and had the same issue. It was so bad that my laptop wouldn't even charge when plugged in, it would slowly drain when doing heavy work loads. I had to set brightness to lowest setting and was only able to do light work loads to keep battery charge in place(ie. 40%). Had to roll back to windows 10. Now battery is back to normal and working as it should, charges as it should when plugged in. Sucks Windows 11 has this issue, i was actually enjoying the new upgrade features and layout. My device: Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 2.

Imagine these new laptops built for Windows 11 with good battery life but then put Windows 10 on it 👌

I have installed windows 11 on Yoga 7 with i5 11 gen. Battery increased by 2 hours and also some gaming performance increase by maybe 10-15%. I'm happy with Windows 11

yes its actually true, my laptop usually get around 6 hours in windows 10 but now in wiindows 11 i get atleat 4 hours. And its actually output more heat than usual. when idle i usually get 50c but now is 70c

And the turbo charge function on my Lenovo IdeaPad 330S with core i5 8th gen processor stopped working. Add that to low battery life 🤮. So I rolled back to windows 10

I think I know why. Now Windows 11 runs Cortana all the time, and the microphone is always up and running. I can verify on my machine as I have an LED indicator when the mic is on. I had to go to the microphone settings, and deactivate Cortana from there

When manufacturers say: the laptop works 10 hours streaming video. And when customers get 5 hrs instead of 10, it’s same as developer arguing and saying “ But the code works on my laptop!!!”

I have an AMD laptop, battery life has actually not suffered much, but there are some weird glitches going on. sometimes when I change volume, the taskbar glitches, really annoying.
