A face-off is brewing in the flood ravaged town of Lismore, where squatters have moved into properties bought by the state government that have been left to rot.

So, should they be moved on or left to let their community thrive?

Lismore City Councillor'Big Rob' joins us.

Latest news - 340 homes completed under their social housing plans- They increased the Humanitarian Refugee intake to 20, 000 in their first year requiring how many houses...5000?
No wonder Australians are squatting.

Unaustralian councillor, who has a vested interest in letting out boarding rooms to these people. Nice big clap for him at the conclusion too. The panel, the councillor/boarding house profiteer & the approving audience are an embarrassment to Australians who hold traditional Australian helping others & giving people a fair go.

We are very low income here in parts of the northern rivers. Rentals are far too high and unavailable. Lismore is built on community. It’s a crisis. This is a way to survive. The govt left these people high and dry. The govt houses are taxpayers houses. Yes they are in harms way maybe, but maybe they are at more risk living alone in a car. Jump the que! It’s called survival! What an ignorant man.

Amazing how quickly they built the quarantine camp in the NT during covid, , costing millions. Y not build that type of facility now, to house the homeless?
Not ruin every attempt they make at making a home.

Why is the government stepping in now when they’ve done nothing before? With the housing crisis, letting these people stay just seems like common sense.

Big Rob speaks for himself. Always has. Everyone that has an issue with him is removed from the Lismore page.

Housing is a human right. These 800 empty buyback homes are now public housing and should be lived in and cared for. The people of Pine Street are doing us a community service. With security and maintainance costs high, it's cheaper and safer for the govt to have caretakers than leave them boarded up to rot while they await relocation ♥️

Big Rob is full of it. Leave them be. The government is not likely to do anything with these homes anytime soon.

There's a huge waiting list, allover Australia, for public housing. Our middle Son, who's on disability payments, was on the list for over 20 years. I was always contacting housing, asking what is going on, same old answer, no places yet. In the end a person from housing suggested a movable unit, on our property, which we rent from housing. We agreed, and its the best thing, we could have done for him. Sick of Australian Govt, and not just the present, past as well, giving priorty to so called refugees😡😡
