Broke my scaphoid 8 months ago. They did not see the break at first and it wasn't seen and operated on until 4 months later. I'm 65 and have osteoporosis. They did a bone graft and put in a screw. I was healed at 5 weeks. I was amazed and felt VERY lucky.

Bless you, my 86 year old Mum broke hers and the surgeon is thrilled how well it has healed.

Clearly her pain will last a while longer. For her age she has an incredible capacity to heal - so hopefully it won't be too long before she is pain free.

I waited too long to watch this video, or go to the hospital, or keep up with physio therapy. Good to know!

Michelle, you have explained fabulously.
My question is that what if I feel a pain on the opposite side i.e exactly in the line of little finger side ?

I broke this in 2012 at basketball practice and thought it was sprained. Played with it for 5 games before I decided to go to the doctor. By the time I got it checked out, half of my bone died and they had to use bone graft to replace it. I now have a permanent titanium screw in my wrist. I’m back to normal life but my wrist will never be the same, I just learned to live with it. I have 30% the range of motion that I used to, plus I have arthritis at 30 years old. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone

I’ve broken both wrists in a motorcycle accident. My left wrist is the scaphoid and I’m a bit fed up after finding out this news. Had this cast on nearly 4 weeks now so it looks like I’ve got to be pretty patient 😞

I searched this up because I knew the slowest healing bone in the body was in the wrist, but couldn't remember which one. I got super worried since I currently have a splint for another wrist bone (the trapezium) which I broke about 2 weeks ago. I was so glad to hear that it wasn't the slowest healing bone.😅

I had a wrist fracture. I'm not sure the exact wrist bone because my doctor did not explained. My wrist seemed to be doing fine until I started taking therapy. I was given exercises to do and a heat pad to my wrist. Since then my wrist has being hurting. I took eight weeks of therapy. I was not in pain before therapy. Now Im in pain in my wrist.
Any suggestions?

I fell on a bike and reached out my hand to soften the fall. It was 2, 5 months ago. My wrist hurt a lot but was not swallen and I could move my fingers. I could not lift anything though. Even an empty cup was too much, my hand just dropped with it. I went to the doctor a month after this, they did an xray and it showed nothing. They gave me some exercises for the wrist which I have done but some were too painful or too hard. Now nobody can say exactly whats wrong. One therapist said that any bone should have been healed by now and it must be a phantom pain. But looking at this video the points you show and the movements are exactly what cause the pain. I will try to get an MRI picture. I do not want this to lead to chronic problems and pains for the rest of my life. My other arm has also started to feel sore because I am using it for doing most of the things every day. Thank you for the video.

I have osteoarthritis and recently woke up with a swollen scaphoid bone in my dominant hand. Hand swollen and warm to touch. Very painful, leaving my grip weak. Pain up my arm. Had carpal tunnel and trigger finger surgery a few years ago in same hand, so I wonder if that has caused this to happen? Have an x-ray coming eventually, but nothing medical moves fast in the UK. Imagine my surprise to come across this video that the scaphoid is the slowest healing bone in the body. Lucky me. 🤔 I'd like to know if treatment for my problem is the same as for a fracture of the scaphoid? If not, what to do? There is almost no info about my situation except one page that said it's very rare. Great.😕

Did my scaphoid when I was 20.. had scans and wasn't picked up. Played netball and hurt it again. Had a screw put in. 10yrs later my wrist started hurting. Had scans and screw Had come away so needed new screw and bone graft again.. now I'm 43 and just had scans done again and my bone has necrosis. Now need my wrist fused but dr says to leave it as long as possible. I'm stuffed

Hello doctor, my son broke his radius bone in an accident. I would like to ask you if I send a photo. Can you comment? I am very sad. Does he need surgery? Several doctors come to different conclusions. We are grateful, thank you...
