SpaceX Begin FULL STACK TESTING for Flight 5, Recover Booster 11's Wreck, & FAA Battle Continues...

Last week Superheavy Booster 11 ROSE FROM THE DEPTHS of the Gulf of Mexico, after its watery landing during Flight 4. Its successor, Booster 12, underwent some crazy catch testing, and was finally mated with Ship 30 as SpaceX completed a full stack for Starship IFT 5, with testing commencing earlier today. All that needs to happen now is wet dress rehearsal, and of course regulatory approval. Soyuz MS-25 returned to Earth, Falcon 9 made 2 outings to Space, China conducted 3 orbital launches and a not-quite-fully successful test of their latest Falcon 9-inspired vehicle, rocket lab launched some IoT satellites and much, much more!

bruh the drone footage from the chinese Falcon-9 ripoff landing is absolutely amazing. I wish we'd get crazy shots like that from booster 5 catch!

SpaceX: Yes we broke the rules. We thought they were silly

I didn't expect them to be able to recover the Booster from the ocean floor, due to difficulty and high cost while not being able to recover that much of meaningful data (at least that's my guess). But here we are, greeted with a positive surprise!

My guess is, booster 11 was "terminated" as soon as they realized they'd soft-landed it on the ocean. The last thing SpaceX would want is another company, or country getting hold of a Raptor 2 engine in even moderate shape!

I FULLY expect the first Booster catch to go mostly right, except for the part where it misses it's pegs and falls off the chop sticks. But, hey, that's how you learn.

It is always good if someone or some company can salvage/restore machinery.

I like how when starship flies but doesn’t make every test objective, it’s a “success.” But when N1 did a similar number of flights that also didn’t reach their test objectives, that was a “Failure.”

I always thought they would recover booster 11

Pretty sure the waiver on the tank farm isn't an approval of it, but rather a "we'll trust you and let it go this time, but we need to inspect it properly before the next time" kind of thing.

I have to admit I watched this video because it showed up in my feed. I didn't realize that I had subscribed to the channel until you mentioned the Kerbel Space video. Now I am very happy that I am a subscriber. Great content. Thank you.
