Starship | First Integrated Flight Test

Starship gave us quite a show during the first flight test of a fully integrated Starship (S24) and Super Heavy rocket (B7) from Starbase in Texas.

On April 20, 2023 at 8:33 a.m. CT, Starship successfully lifted off from the orbital launch pad for the first time. The vehicle cleared the pad and beach as Starship climbed to an apogee of ~39 km over the Gulf of Mexico – the highest of any Starship to-date.

With a test like this, success comes from what we learn, and we learned a tremendous amount about the vehicle and ground systems today that will help us improve on future flights of Starship.

I watched the Falcon Heavy Test Flight while I was in eighth grade. After watching the side boosters simultaneously land I was in sheer awe from that day forward and knew what I wanted to do in life…

Just last month I watched Starship take flight while studying for my final exams at the end of my first year in university for aerospace engineering.

Thank you SpaceX for my life passion!

No one's gonna point out that this thing is so powerful that the Launch Command Bass was shaking from the sheer force of this thing. AND THEY WERE MILES AWAY!

SpaceX knows how to keep people interested and excited for what is to come.

That ending showing what's up next is a powerful way to end!

No other rocket company would so brazenly show off a vehicle of theirs exploding and then go "Ah well, we'll just try again" - it's what makes SpaceX special. Can't wait for S25 and B9!

This made me cry. I mean this is freaking beautiful. I really miss watching these moments with my mother. We'd stay up at night and watch every SpaceX launch. It didn't matter what time it happened.

Despite the ending, this was the single most hype launch. The cheering, the anticipation, the enthusiasm..

Excitement was definitely guaranteed.

I wish we had a similar program in Europe, but ESA, Arianespace and our billionaires are still asleep there. Both thumbs up for SpaceX and their efforts. Starship and reusable rockets are really inspiring and I'm looking forward to the next launch.

That was so amazing!!! I remember when Elon gave the first presentation on the Starship design, back then it was called BFR. I also remember how many said it would never fly. it did!!! Congratulations to all the workers at SpaceX for making this thing take to the skies!! Can't wait for the next flight!!!!
