The Wars of the Roses brought great turbulence to England with the dynastic civil war between the House of York and the House of Lancaster causing chaos with the monarchy. The crown passed between the two houses a number of times, but following the Battle of Bosworth field, Henry Tudor's forces defeated Richard III. After Richard's bloody death, Henry was crowned King Henry VII by rights of conquest, and he married Elizabeth of York to unite the nation and to begin the Tudor dynasty. He needed to quickly restore order and stability especially with the monarchy, and he did this in a number of ways. Through taxes also, he managed to make the crown very wealthy, however this did make him at times unpopular with the people of England.

Henry VII would go on to have a very famous son who became England's most infamous and notorious King. His younger son became King Henry VIII who is most famous for having 6 wives and executing many high profile individuals including 2 of his own wives Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard. However Henry VII's eldest son Prince Arthur died, and the heir apparent's death caused great upset with the King. Following this, Elizabeth of York died shortly after and Henry VII was distraught. He went downhill quickly and later became morbidly ill with consumption, which today would be described as tuberculosis. His final moments were known to have been very religious and pious, with the King in a great degree of pain.

It’s exactly this type of concise presentation that holds the potential to make YouTube an educational resource rather than a mindless circus. This is especially true for those who, for various reasons, find conventional paths of education overwhelming. I wish you and your channel much success.

Always felt it was such a shame that we got two warrior kings from the house of York in Edward IV and Richard III, strong men who would stand and fight their own battles. Then to be followed by the Tudors who only saw battle whilst standing far behind the lines and sending men to fight and die for them instead of leading them their selves. Henry VII was a tight fisted guy, so much so that he made his son marry his dead brothers widow to keep Catherine of Aragon’s dowry and then Henry VIII who turned into a tyrant and again fought no battles but killed plenty. For all that is made of the Tudors they were lesser kings than their predecessors

Henry Vll was an underrated King.He took the throne during a turbulent time and gave England stability and power. He was certainly ruthless but a ruler needed to be hard to solidify the reign. He also never became obese like his son Henry Vlll.

Only if he knew what a snake he raised. I wonder if Arthur would have been as evil as Henry.

Henry VII: *having a painful death*

There was such a great love, it seemed, between Henry VII and his wife, Elizabeth of York. For a match that was made so long ago, it's clear that there was a lot of devotion and tenderness between them. It would be so nice to see more adaptations of Henry VII. I would definitely recommend the Shadow of the Tower, but- not you, Phillipa Gregory. Go away. *shoo's an imaginary Phillipa Gregory out of sight*.

I totally understand what he go through. I've had liver cirrosis and enduring every sorts of pain. My feet became so bloated that the skin on the top of them tear, I had to have ponctions that removes 6 to 10 liters of acite for my belly each weeks for two years. Many life threatening hemmoragies, calcification of many joints in my body. I was at 1 week from death when they called me for transplantation. I wished to died many times the last month. In theses time beeing sick would have be no joke. Grieves for somebody is a thing but grieving for yourself is another thing. When the real time come I will be ready because I already know what it is to be dying.

Pain was part of life in those days, even for a king.

He loved his wife and children so dearly that he couldn't cope with their loss. I wonder why Henry Viii hated his wives and daughters. Prince Arthur would have been kinder but he died so young. Henry Vii was truly a family man and a great military commander, winning and establishing long awaited peace in England.

Just a shame Richard 3rd lost that battle, ,, if he'd have made it and killed Henry English history would have been so different and probably the rest of the world ., ..

Strange how we marvel and look in wonderment to these historical figures and try to understand them when really, the only reason how history knows them is because they were born from a diamond encrusted merkin and ruled with an iron fist of fear, terror, torture and murder.

You are a thousand times the person they were but history will never remember you. No-one will ever know you even existed.

King Henry VIII was a bloody tyrant, hands down!

Henry the eighth turned out to be a mean tyrant, especially to his two daughters. He blamed Catherine and Anne for not giving him a son, but it’s the male gene that determines what the baby is
