One of History's most famous and notorious Kings was Henry VIII. He's most famously remembered for being a King who was very brutal ordering executions of some of his closest friends and even two of his Queens. Henry VIII himself ruled with a reign of terror, and he was known for his huge size with him in his final days eating himself almost to death. He was once a sporty and healthy athletic man, but following a number of illnesses and injuries he fell into a depressive state. In his final years, he ordered many executions including Catherine Howard's his fifth wife's, but as 1547 came Henry began to become very ill.

History has stated that Henry died of natural causes, but his final moments were met with relative peace compared to the terror and turbulence imposed during his reign. Henry passed away inside of Whitehall Palace at the age of 55, and following him Edward VI his son became the King. But what was the story behind Henry's death? Was it really natural causes that killed him? Or was it the lifestyle he had been living?

So join us today as we look at, 'The PAINFUL Death Of King Henry VIII Of England.'

I feel so sorry for his horse. That obese evil king needed a crane to get onto the poor horse towards the end. That poor horse. 😔

Henry's was the most notorious ruler and worst husband and father. He slaughtered 72, 000 people in his reign of terror. Nobody was safe or immune from his anger. He beheaded his queens and even friends. Started a new religion which got thousands killed in centuries to come. All for love which faded away in three years. His daughters became his legacy not son.

Henry's leg ulcer pained him greatly, and could be smelt three rooms away from where he was sitting in Hampton Court Palace, so that even the royal dogs refused to go near him. For all his many sins, he certainly suffered in his later years.

It’s really hard to feel sorry for him. May he rot in hell! He caused a lot of misery. Even his doctors were afraid of telling him he was dying.

I bet his horse was relieved that he was gone...

Henry the VIII most likely died from a combination of things... Sepsis from his infected leg, complications from Diabetes, and Heart Failure due to his morbid obesity. No doubt the man was pure evil in his later years whether it was from his head injury or simply because he enjoyed exercising his power and wanted to make sure no one felt safe enough to try and remove him from the throne as was done frequently in those days. Kings were killed battling their enemies for power and privilege. Henry's desire for a son is what created his fear of not having an heir to inherit the throne ending the Tudor reign of England. After all his father was the first Tudor to kill for power and Henry killed to keep it. If there is a Hell no doubt Henry VIII is most likely in it for all the senseless murders he had committed in his name. He even had women tortured. He was a horrible man. Not that I would wish any of this on anyone, but not even the son he sired with Jane Seymour (another ambitious whore) ended up dying before he could marry and have children. It was so fitting that both his daughter reigned after his death. Especially Elizabeth. Anne's killing was a setup and he didn't care if she died once he had his would-be child bride. Jane also got her just desserts for her role in Anne's death as well as did all her enemies that plotted to have her beheaded. It was poetic justice and Henry's death was a long-suffering process. I'm sure he had nothing but time to think about what a cruel bastard he had become. Henry VIII was having people's heads chopped off long before he ever suffered his head injuries.

It isn't a far fetch to consider Henry's putrefying leg, that he suffered in the later stages of gangrene. This would also account for his body, supposedly, exploding while he lay in the lead coffin, which is more evidence of why his body fluids ran from the coffin. As to whether the dog licked his blood, I doubt that occurred. Dogs were wont not to go near Henry due to the horrible smell that emanated from his leg, that could be smelled {three rooms away}. He would have suffered an extremely painful death from the gangrene.

I've no sympathy at all, as to how much pain he suffered in his final days. He deserved everything he got. He himself was a cruel heartless man, who bestowed terror and pain onto thousands of people, some of whom did nothing more than to speak out of turn. What goes around, comes around.

Loved this. As you described the velvet, crown and effigy that accompanied the funeral procession, I felt sure that you were going to say that those things were stolen. When you said 'It is here that it is said that the king's remains exploded', I was taken aback and had a bit of a giggle!

Henry was really an English Josef Stalin. It’s insane how closely their personalities match up.

I like the Tudor history. No doubt Henry eight was a strong King, but execution of Anne boleyn, Catherine Howard, Thomas cromwell, Thomas Culpeper and many others never be forgotten.

A king had to legally have a queen for their children to be legitimate heirs. A mistress's child was of no consequence.
