I went out and got the frozen beef rolls to try this instead of slicing up steak to make gyudon, which always ends up a bit too thick. Then I realised that my rice cooker is too small! Haha. Still works just as well in the pan as normal and now I have a thinner, more authentic beef so this has still revolutionised my gyudon :D

Now we have a regular and fast (less work) version. Perfect! Thanks, Chef!

If you buy the frozen sliced beef rolls, do you need to thaw in fridge first or can you put the frozen beef in the rice cooker?

Great video! Will your recipes work in any rice cooker?

Hi, Chef! 😊 Just curious, why aren’t you using mirin when cooking gyudon? Most of the recipes I’ve seen used both mirin and sake.

So we prep the rice on the stove, everything else is cooked in the rice cooker.

Looks simple enough, unfortunately I don't have a rice cooker.

This maybe a good recipe but, for people like me who have an old fashioned on/off button rice cooker, it's difficult to cook like you do with high tech computer/AI assisted unit😮😢

can I just cook the beef together with rice at the same time?
