Information is the key when the end of the world is looming. Picture this scene. The undead have risen from their graves and are heading for a shopping mall near you.

Greenish flesh, rank fingernails and a taste for brains- it seems there’s no stopping them. Preparation is essential when battling with the undead so make sure you have read up on your enemy and have built yourself a mini-fortress. You’ll also need some weapons and a major exit strategy. So let’s see how to take on the undead and remain alive.

Where would be your safe haven and what would be the weapon of choice should the apocalypse come upon us?

Terrible advice. You don't want to be near a hospital, you don't want to be near a city at all.

The best location is probably an old church in a small town. Old churches have high windows and heavy doors. You'll need food, so raid the nearby houses when it is safe. You want this town to be up-hill because zombies will naturally follow the path of least resistance.

A small town will have stores, houses and a pharmacy to raid for supplies.

Unless you plan to wait a few weeks for the zombies to die of natural causes, you need to clear out the town to establish a safe haven.

Open combat is a poor choice for killing zombies. Either drop them from a great height using bait dangled over a drop, or lure them to a sturdy fence or grill they cannot break through, but with gaps big enough to kill them with a pike.

If you need to move long distances quickly, use a bicycle. It is quiet and you can weave in and out of them at speeds they cannot match.

Guns are not for Zs. Guns are for defending against other hostile survivors.

Blades are tools, not weapons. Used as weapons, blades will chip and dull very quickly.

Sturdy blunt weapons are ideal for fighting off Zs. They don't dull, and they don't run out of ammo.

Always remember: A zombie is a human with decaying flesh, muscle, and bones. They are neither as strong nor as sturdy as you (if you're a healthy adult human). One or two are little threat, and unlike in movies and video games, there IS a finite number of them. The real danger comes from swarms.
