About this video:
The Sicilian Defense is a very exciting option for black in reply to e4. There are lots of fighting chances for both white and black. Black has options of playing an early a6, as in the Najdorf, or Bg7 and going into the Dragon. White must decide where to play his bishops, and which side to castle on.

Thank you Nelson! this videos are short, simple and direct. Very entertaining and helpful.
The fact that you give different options on what can happen is really useful!

Really great intro. Just getting into the game and so many 'intros to...' are 45 minutes long! Feel I've got a decent first look at the Sicilian. Looking forward to playing around with it.

I really liked this. Could you do a video on the Indian defense in 3 minutes and the Queens pawns game in 3 minutes please?

Know this is an old video but perfect for what i was looking for. i’m 1400 atm and i win every game in the vienna (like 70% almost) but as black im losing most of my games (56% loss) and my only repitoire against e4 has been the caro kaan so im thinking of switching to the sicilian, already have seen an increased win rate and haven’t even studied much theory in it

Thanks for the video. I remember at one point you mention an opening for black which resembles the Vienna position. Could you refer me to what’s that called?

Great video, i been playing chess for a few months now (and i think urs was the 1st chess channel i subbed to actually) i been using italian game for white and czec pirc for black (and also white sometimes) but i wanna branch out on my openings now, I was a lil put off learning the Sicilian coz i seen another vid on youtube sayin u shud be rated like 2000 + before u try n play the Sicillian, this video makes me think its worth a crack tho, i was thinkin London system next for white n Sicilian (dragon maybe?) for black, i also hear caro kann is good for beginners with black so maybe thats on my to do list too (if u got any recommends for beginner friendly black and/or white openings i wud love to hear em) i wud be happy if i had 3 or 4 solid openings with each colour for now. Thanks a lot.

Who is playing the sicillian defence? Is it white or black or both?

would have been much easier to remember if you had given the names of the variations, no one can remember move orders without some structure

If white plays d4, can black still play f5? Is that still sicilian defense?
