Sportster kickstart install fun

A kick start can be added to an electric start Ironhead Sportster or an electric start can be added to a kickstart Ironhead sportster. The down side is , it only applies to 1979 & older Sportster’s , some early 1980 models can be converted but not a lot of em , as a running change to crankcases , Harley Davidson chose to not do the required machining steps that allow a kickstart shaft to be installed . The 79 & older models had been machined and the bushing is there as well , there’s a block off plug that can be removed , exposing the bore in the case where the bushing sits , supporting the left end of the kickstart shaft .
