Electronic shifting can be a lot smoother than its mechanical counterparts, but it does require a little extra vigilance if you don't want to find yourself out of battery and stuck in the 53x11 halfway through a 200km mountain epic! Alex is here to tell you how to keep track of your eTap battery level and what to do when you're running low.

I don't know how I missed the memo on the coin batteries in the shifters or didn't notice them in the app. I just checked their level and one was low, and I am about to head to an Ironman! I watched the video because I wondered if I was missing anything on the battery maintenance. I also didn't know about the LED lights on the shifters. Happy that they used the fairly common CR2032s on those because I have spares around the house for other gear. My husband (road biker) liked to work on bikes and took care of mine for me, but he passed away from cancer last year, and I only had the bike for a couple of months before he passed; he never mentioned it. Thanks so much!

Best suggestion I received for electronic groupsets is to charge them at the beginning of the month. A good habit to start to ensure never having a dead battery.

Recommend removing batteries when putting your bike on a car -- they will be active when in motion and thus draining the battery. Had only ridden on mine a few times but done a bunch of driving with it and they died on me without my charger.

I synced my new SRAM rival sensors to my Wahoo Roam v2. Roam displays an alarm when the derailleur battery leval drops to a low level warning you to charge your batteries after your ride.

I have the sram red axs for a year now. Better than the invention of sliced bread. I have two chargers. Makes charging much easier. Carry a third battery in my saddle bag. Never had to use it. I leaves the batteries in the derailleurs when traveling. Keeps the ports clean. You can buy port blocks. Hard to get. The sram axs is great. Went from a sram force mechanical. I would NEVER go back. I have been riding/racing for 50 years. I have seen it all.
