VW Golf MK7 battery state of charge check with instrument cluster

How to check battery state of charge (SoC) in Volkswagen Golf MK7 using the instrument cluster display. This feature lets you check the estimated charge level of your cars battery.
As you can see in the video, even with readout SoC 0% car electronics are OK so I'm not sure what's the real value of this feature. Anyway I'm letting you know how to access this function.

A couple of days I was just wondering if this is possible somehow to check. Why is that feature so "hidden"? Or is it mentioned in the user manual? That's a very useful feature when you are driving in the winter in the nordic countries and in addition to this you are using the Webasto which is a real battery drainer. Thank you very much!

On my 17 sportwagon this doesn't work. It goes to time and that is it.

MK7Battery State of Charge percentage
17- Instruments
10- Adaptations
Scroll down until you see "Battery Charge" > simply change it in the
new value drop down to "active" and it's done. To use it…..Switch the ignition off, then press (and continue to hold)
the trip reset button in the middle lower of the instrument panel.
It will cycle from first resetting the trip to 0 miles > show "Time"
to allow you to change the clock > then keep holding until say "Battery".
Release the button and display SOC for a few seconds before returning
back to the main screen.

Mine shows "---". Everything is wired correctly.
Can I please ask which year is the Golf in the video, and whether it has start/stop, or not?

My 2018 alltrack has twice given a low battery warning with the car off and radio on in a parking lot. The first time, I panicked (it was 15 degrees out) and immediately tried to start it. Nothing ... 20 minutes later it started right up. What is this all about ?? The second time this happened, the car started up. This second time ( a year later, same cold season) I had the battery on trickle charge overnight so I know the battery was good. This is bizarre. This SOC check will be of great value.

Didnt work on my 2017 MK7 GTI Clubsport. Only showing Time & Oil Service intervals. Dissapointing. Still gotta have to use multimeter then..? 😕

When the battery is fully charged should it say 0% meaning no charge is needed?

Mine doesn't give a percentage, it shows only SOC --- like it's unavailable?

My SOC does not display anything apart from a blank percentage as follows... - - - %. Any idea why this could be? I believe this might be why my S/S system isn’t working

If I have my car running, turn it off, then do this, it says 0%. If I turn the car on, but I don't crank the engine, I don't start the engine, then just turn it off and do this check it says 100%. Not sure what's going on there. But cool. Thanks

mine always show %80, is it normal for new battery ?

Eu troquei a minha recente. Minha teoria é que são apenas dois dígitos e 100% é o mesmo que 0%
