The counter to this is a video Cross himself made about a year ago:

one of Destiny's biggest problems is that with the seasonal/annual model is that Bungie is using the majority of their resources to develop seasonal content that will be deleted in 3 to 12 months. That's crazy!

What if I wanted to replay the Sever missions from Haunted? Gone. Play a Ketchcrash? Gone. Any of the other stuff from the past 20+ seasons? Gone.

Now that is truly wild.

I think when Final Shape drops, that will be it for me. It's not that I hate the game. I've been through its ups and downs since Dark Below, and I'd be lying if it hasn't created a lot of memories for me. I'm just getting older now, and it's getting to time intensive for me. I hope others find enjoyment out of the episodes though.

Episodes is a good way continue the story after the final shape, so if the final shape is the final expansion then I’m ok, but there are things that episodes need to do to keep people invested, like adding new raids and dungeons or other activities

Eric Connor Richter is coping pretty hard with some of those tweets. Some of those things, yeah theyre awesome, and its WILD that they werent in the game for nearly a decade.

This game has kinda been my fallback game for so long. I play a lot of other games but this one always pulls me back. It’s great. It’s not fresh and new, but for how old it is I think it’s doing amazing.

The big one for me (that isn’t mentioned in the video) is the removal of elemental affinities from armour and armour mods. Having to have good rolls on each affinity for the different mods was a huge pain, and even when they added the ability to pay to change them, it was still annoying to have to remove mods, and pay materials to keep swapping it. It’s truly wild how much the game has changed, for the better, over the years

Destiny's in-game storytelling never lived up to the potential that its lore and environment have. Now, we are approaching the end of the saga, I wonder what could have been. The darkness reveals never lived up to the expectations or the concept art that it set up for itself.

I feel that the Episodes are meant to set the stage for the next big saga in Destiny. Now, whether the game survives to see that come to fruition is a completely seperate matter.

I think TFS is a great way to segment into media to flesh out deeper story telling that Destiny has to offer.

I’ve always wanted Destiny to get the Arcane treatment of media. Gorgeous animation, voice acting and set building but for all the cool stories in the lore.

I wanna see the first VoG team’s demise, I want to see the battle of Torobotl, I want to see the horror of the K1 group that succumbed to the artifact on the moon, I want to see all of it!
