Police dog put down after one final ride in squad car

A flag waved at half staff next to a draped black cloth at the Ridgefield Police Department, the place where a K-9 officer once worked. Zeus, who served the department for nine years, took a final, one-way ride in a squad car to Ridgefield Veterinary Hospital Wednesday.

The only worst thing about having a dog is that they don't live longer as much as we do. I miss my dog so much.

My biggest regret was when I was a kid I refused to stand by my dog when they were going to put him down. I thought I couldn't take the heart ache, but it was made much worse by the fact he never left me but I left him. RIP ZEUS

they had to put my dog down yesterday. let me tell you, it was utterly heartbreaking. it wasn't a pet, it was family. and it's hard to lose your family.

I really miss my boy, he breathed his last breath in my arms and passed on due to autoimmune disease at 6 and a half, he's always on my mind a year on still. I miss you Carlos, hope you are doing well up there.
