I gained 18.5k subs in 20 days just from my shorts. What I did was being simple, not a ton of editing, just footage, text and music. My simplicity and my hook "5 x in x" or "The *adjective* in x". This made me grow really big really quickly. Sometimes simple is best!

1. Audience retention
2. Viewed vs Swiped away
These two are the most important metrics you should watch out for.

2 hours after watching this video, and following the tips, I published my short, and YouTube recommended it on the short feed. my traffic is up. It works well, thanks so much

A short video that i had uploaded 2 months ago started getting traction again out of nowhere just because the watchtime was 170%. The algorithm sometimes works in favor of small channels sometimes against. Just be consistent and your channel will grow eventually.

When I started my Youtube Channel about a month ago I was focused on shorts. The strategy was to get as many subscribers as I can in a month before creating a long form video. Shorts is like introducing to the audience what your channel is all about. From there, they will know what to expect from you.

youtube shorts has helped me so much when it comes to making long-form content. if shorts didn't exist then i'd have to keep having to make long-form content to grow which would take a LOOONG TIME

I love shorts for creative ways to convey information in a clear concise way in a short amount of time. It is a skill! 👍🏾

Seriously, the lessons in this video are like a kick in the pants for personal growth. It's not just about learning facts; it's about figuring out who you really are. Watch it, absorb it, and get ready for some serious positive vibes and self-discovery.

I normally like these videos because they stay true to the title. This isn't 36 hacks to beat the algorithm though, this is 36 ways to write a hook.

Shorts for me helped to get my long form videos to be seen way more, i like to post a short about the last video, promote it and it sometimes go BOOM ahah, im no where near epic numbers but 2 months ago i wasnt thinking of it being a posibility and the more i make content, the more possible it is to make it a living, its hard work but hella worth it :D

I have some unique data for you: i have 5k subs, around 4.5k of them came from 8-second shorts. I found my shorts exploded when the watch time was over 130%. Making the short shorter made it easier to get to 100% without adding a ton of text/flair to the video.

I recently polled my audience on the next videos they want to see (I genuinely wanted to learn more about my audience). Everyone chose long-form topics, and hardly anyone mentioned wanting to see better shorts. I thought that was interesting because my short quality isn’t that good.

Also, I tried to post my same schedule when I was in Mexico for a vacation. I didn't have a language or region setting on the channel, and my short view count immediately took a big hit. I averaged around 10k per short, going down to 1k. I noticed the algorithm was recommending my content to people near where I was, or that spoke different languages.

I had a bunch of YouTube shorts go viral a year or two ago and now I have 34k subscribers. Now I wanted to actually become monetized (they didn’t have short views monetization then) so I started posting long form content and now I get 100 views max which is way low for my sub count.

I started youtube shorts 6 months ago. Until january I used to upload daily a short, I used to get like 2 million highest to lowest of 2k views on a video and then I stopped posting for 40 days and started again in march and posted consistently for the next 30 days but the problem is out of the 30 shorts I posted in the past 30 days, Not even one single short got more than 100 views, which is really disappointing for me. I don't even know what to do at this point! :(

I feel like YouTube Shorts are future because people have short span of attention these days, and it's really popular with Gen Z (almost as much as TikTok). That's why I am trying to make content almost every day for both platforms, but I put my focus on short expressive videos. Consistency (and a little bit of Famester of course) always pays off.

Thanks Dan, this one is a banger. So much useful info in here and we can come back time and time again to remind ourselves or to try a different hook.

One thing that I do struggle with sometimes are video hooks, and low-and-behold VidIQ puts out a video on making better video hooks, and with example of successful videos that use these concepts. Alot of youtube videos I've seen from other YT channels with tips/tricks is the videos usually don't give examples of how someone used said tips/tricks to find success on YT. VidIQ once again has blown my mind.
