======== Christmas Truce LYRICS ==========

Silence
Oh, I remember the silence
On a cold winter day
After many months on the battlefield
And we were used to the violence
Then all the cannons went silent
And the snow fell
Voices sang to me from no man’s land

We are all, we are all, we are all, we are all friends

And today we’re all brothers
Tonight we’re all friends
A moment of peace in a war that never ends
Today we’re all brothers
We drink and unite
Now Christmas has arrived and the snow turns the ground white
Hear carols from the trenches, we sing O holy night
Our guns laid to rest among snowflakes
A Christmas in the trenches, a Christmas on the front far from home

Madness
Oh I remember the sadness
We were hiding our tears
In a foreign land where we faced our fears
We were soldiers
Carried the war on our shoulders
For our nations
Is that why we bury our friends?

We were all, we were all, we were all, we were all friends

A Christmas on the frontline, we walk among our friends, we don’t think about tomorrow, the battle will commence
When we celebrated Christmas, we thought about our friends, those who never made it home, when the battle had commenced

========== HISTORIC FACT ==========

On December 24, 1914, an unofficial Christmas Truce was enforced on the Western Front. An act of trust and harmony, British and German soldiers mingled and played games together in the midst of one of the most atrocious events of the 20th century – World War I.

My Christmas wish is that these videos get popular enough to animate Sabaton's entire library. 🎄💚

This isn't gold. Not silver. Not even bronze. This is a crystal clear diamond here! The beauty in this song is literally in every piece of the lyrics! Keep up the nice buff muscles Sabaton!

It is sad that no one who participated in this event never heard this song.

Someone is supposed to claim again that metal can't transmit emotions. This is really a diamond.
It was last year, and it is this year also.
Thank you, Sabaton

A good soldier fights not because he hates what's in front of him, but because he loves what's on his back. Those men didn't hate each other, they were young men doing their job, fulfilling their duty for their country in the name of men who were too powerful and cowardly to put themselves on the line. Lest we forget.

I love that they added in that bit about Hitler being a real stick in the mud. It's great.

As emotional as this song is, I can't imagine the emotions of the soldiers the next day when the fighting resumed. This story is as much tragic as it is beautiful.

I want to say, that my both Grand Grand Fathers from German and Russian parts were participating in the Truce, even tho my German grandfather was having a Christmas with British, and my Russian Grandfather with Germans, they did enjoy it as their last, but both came back home, and infact, both had a good contact with the guys they had the Christmas with, this song motivates me and also gives me a Christmas Spirit, i am really thankful for the peace not to countries but the citizens of it, that people realize that even on the other end of this blue globe, there's people just like us, Thank you.
Thank you. . .

Tommy is such a versatile musician. First, he can play an acoustic guitar and make it sound like an electric. He plays "Frosty the Snowman" on the piano. And now, he plays the sackpipa like it's an electric guitar.

Never forget, that out there in No Man's Land, some brave men just decided that "Enough is enough."
*And that the war continued for 4 years beyond that.*
**And that a far more bloody war would commence mere 20 years later.**
Never forget that our ancestors bled so that we, German, British, French and all of them could have many more Merry Christmas' beyond that.

This always makes me tear up in joy and sorrow, because this was the only time Humanity's Kindness manage to shine in a land full of death and destruction. If there's going to be only one thing left in humanity, I hope it's going to be kindness
