What to Expect at an Amish Church

When someone is Amish, they have to attend Amish church. In my community, it was every two weeks. At a typical Amish church service, the men and women sit separately. And they sing 4 or 5 songs in total. Each song takes about 20 minutes. And there are 2 preachers that stand up and preach. Then, the other preachers have to say that they are okay with everything that has been said. The Amish also always eat a meal after church service. It usually consists of bread, ham, cheese, peanut butter spread, and pickles. Then, for dessert, they have cookies or pies.

I always worry about the ladies getting poked, scratched, and snagged on the straight pins. Is that an issue? Or do they just learn where the pins are and how to move to avoid getting injured by the pins?

I'm sure you've done a video about this but I have 2 questions. Why are puns and safety pins allowed but not buttons. Also, I've heard that deodorant is not allowed. Is this true? If so, what do you do about body odors?

Another enlightening video. Except for the social element, which many of the people probably enjoyed, the service itself must be VERY long and so terribly boring to the folks who gather! There seems to be no life at all. If that is the Amish way of relating to God, I can understand why few would ever hunger to really know Him.
