What is proton Neil deGrasse Tyson explained proton. A proton is a stable subatomic particle, symbol p , H⁺, or ¹H⁺ with a positive electric charge of +1 e. Its mass is slightly less than that of a neutron and 1,836 times the mass of an electron. Protons and neutrons, each with masses of approximately one atomic mass unit, are jointly referred to as "nucleons". I always wondered how they were able to shoot such tiny things as atoms one by one

Bad editing, I'm sure he explained how the discovery was made, but this clip doesn't.

Helium nuclei: "can I borrow some energy so I can pass?"
Gold: "...you may pass!"

I'd like to see this discovery made again today using the same 1911 technology

Until today we do not even know why neutrons don't decay

Yes, "The Rutherford Experiment". Learned that in 1st sem. General Chemistry. Always fascinated me.

I don't fully trust the conclusion due to the simplicity of interpreting a complex issue and circumstance, and hence the standard model. So stay tuned for updating of it ...

The real question is how did he measure the protons that passed through the gold foil? To measure something you first need to know what it is (or hypothesise) and then design a measurement device that will measure(correctly).

Question, what does shooting at gold measure or detect?

Doesn't answer the question of what a proton is in this clip.☹️

Element of a higher vibration are smaller relative its environment. As things grow they slow. So helium can pass through gold rather easily. Essentially

A proton is a hydrogen atom without its electron, it is the hydrogen ion and usually written as H+. In other words a proton is simply the nucleus of a hydrogen atom.

I thought that a proton was a ton that did it better than most.
