Funny how life works when we are being mindful and grateful, even when times are tuff.
Just yesterday I was thinking about how tuff it must be to raise a child as a parent that is widowed, and I know what the child feels like as I have lived it and seen it. But trying to raise a child and carrying on knowing that the other person is gone must be one of the hardest thing to do. I thought about this because someone I know very well has gone through this twice, let alone once.
So while i was thinking and feeling empathy about this I was reminded of the very last scene of Forest Gump when Forest, who is now a widowed father because Jenny has past, walks his kid to the school bus and then tells him he loves him and then sends him off. After the kid leaves Fores sits there and thinks about his wife who has past, and then a feather floats on by him as a reminder that no one who has past is every gone, and they are always watching over us.
Today, after dropping my brother off at school and waving him off to have a good day, to little kid that also has to go to school without a mother like I did, I then went and got my coffee so I could get my day started and after that I decided to sit outside the coffee shop and meditate and relax for a moment because it was so nice outside. I sat down for ten minutes and after I was done meditating I opened my eyes and relaxed for a moment to get my bearings straight before I was about ready to start my day.
No more than 5 minutes later, I look over in awe as I see the very same type of feather that was in that scene in Gump that I thought of yesterday floated by in the air as if it were done by on purpose. I was surprised, yet not surprised, by a little sign from above that all those that have past are not gone, and someone truly is always watching over us.
