Palpatine's manipulations of Anakin Skywalker went beyond mistrust of the Jedi. He sought to poison the young Jedi’s perception of his wife. In a scene cut from Revenge of the Sith, the Delegation of 2,000, led by Senator Padme Amidala, challenged the Chancellor's emergency powers.

Palpatine sternly tells the senators that they must trust him before dismissing them. He then waters the seeds of doubt he had sown within Anakin long ago. However, this time, he directs his insidious manipulations towards Padme, openly accusing her of hiding something. Anakin asserts that he detects no trace of betrayal in the senator. Yet Palpatine skillfully exploits their unwavering trust, implying that Anakin’s Jedi senses may have a blind spot when it comes to Senator Amidala. In this masterful display of manipulation, Palpatine once again tightens his grip on Anakin, lending insight as to why Anakin was so quick to mistrust Padme on Mustafar.

Wow! This one would've actually made the film better. It really adds depth to all characters and their interdynamic relationship. Very very cool and well done from what I see here.

It gets even deeper in the novelization. At one point, Palpatine insinuates that Padme is cheating on Anakin... with Obi-Wan.

had padme just came alone it would have been different but as soon as he saw obiwan he felt he had already broke the worst news without any fluff and destroyed her perception of him...he sensed a trap that padme was in fact trying to get him to turn himself in so the stage was set for his distrust of her loyalty....anakin had to face what he did at the temple and he couldnt just blame it on anyone else or soften the news....he felt betrayed by obi wan for talking to her first and he in general felt love blocked by the loveless jedi....obviously priesthood has changed in real life and this is are afraid of losing love so they choose not to marry at all....its just like spiderman and his mask....the sith can manipulate you by taking yoyr family surprised they dont change names once they begin training....sith teaches that loss is a part of life and for jedi sacrifice is a part of is insanely loyal to love so the second love second guessed him he lost it...only those who we love can truly hurt us....who cares what some rando asshole says

I’m glad this was cut as in the end it was Sidious’ promise to save Padmé from death that turned Anakin to the dark side. So it wouldn’t make sense for him to sow distrust between them.

When are we going to just stop with giving George Lucas a pass. This guy, as smart as he is, was a tinkerer, and a bad decision maker. So many scenes that were left on the cutting room floor would’ve answered many questions, and made the movies 1000X better. Then after selling Lucasfilm, he negotiates and hand picks Kathleen Kennedy himself to lead Lucasfilm with Disney.

I thought Obi-Wan being in his dream of Padme’s death and then seeing him on Padme’s ship made Anakin jealous and angry at both of them. He thought they were plotting against him. Also, didn’t Anakin plan on killing the Emperor and he and Padme ruling the galaxy?

palps fucking hated padme… i mean using her to get to anakin was probably better than killing her but she was a big enough thorn in his side that he wanted her dead. once padme grew up a little and saw he was using her she stopped being useful for anything other than bate for anakin. too bad they couldn’t see eachother frequently due to the war, padme might’ve been able to convince anakin that he’d been manipulating both of them since they were children.

Was it manipulation or out and out lying to Anakin? I suppose both are true however the only reason Anakin went to the dark side was because Palpatine straight up told him he had the power to save Padme’s life which of course he didn’t. I will give it to ol Sid’s though, he didn’t waste a second before telling Anakin he was full of shit.
