I decluttered some things into my garage last year but kept them there. I’ve been “shopping” my garage this year and that includes clothes I thought I didn’t want. I opened make up I didn’t want and shoes I thought I’d never wear but I’m giving a second chance. I now have lots of “new” old things ❤

I’ve also realised this lately. Micromanaging and compulsive decluttering made me so stressed and that kind of takes away the point of minimalism.

Over-decluttering can be just as toxic as over-consumption. Have learned the hard way for both.

It is definitely addictive. I think everyone addicted to declutterring is also a self proclaimed stress cleaner 🙋‍♀️

I over decluttered my beauty stash in 2023, and ended up repurchasing everything I decluttered/sold 😢 still grappling with the amount of money wasted/spent but slowly learning how to live with my “non-essentials” that bring joy to my life via owning and having on hand

Thank you! I often find myself getting to a "uh oh too much stuff!" place, declutter, donate and realize it wasn't so cluttered after all. Now I go for comfort and cozy.

Got tears hearing this…that really hit home. What a simple, helpful mindset of acceptance!

This is so true! I'm thankful that you said it out loud

This was me for the longest time, not that I was super minimalistic or organised but I tried to incorporate that into my life where I could, until one day I visited my maximalist friend’s place that’s filled with stuffed toys and everything fluffy. She’s not intentional or compulsive about it, she just loves certain things, and the moment I walked in I immediately felt safe, warm and cosy. That’s when I realised I should just live my life how I please, it’s about the joy in the things we do and bring into our space, not rigid concepts and rules we unnecessarily set up for ourselves 😊

It’s a good safe feeling to know that you have the extras that make life sweeter, cozier, rich in a way. Even if you use them once a year or two. Some of us overdid minimalism and are now appreciating having things again. I like the maximalist cosy decor too. Makes you feel hugged whereas minimal feels too barebone and cold sometimes. Thanks for this short.🎉❤

no you didn't just come for my life... lol

THIS spoke, and held my heart back to calm... perfect timing.

I have been purging this past year... and it does feel lighter.
However, there IS so much more to B enjoyed, as well...

Healthy Balance indeed.

*Thank You.

This is such an important message and one i have been trying to incorporate. With chronic illness and being a solo mama my energy is limited a lot some times . I like a clean decluttered space but I can get caught up in it and leave no time or energy to live me life and be present for it and my children.
And you are right it is the inevitable that things will come in and it is Neverending.

Lol! I just went to a thrift store and saw so many cute things. They were all the things I had donated! 🤣
Some I had to resist not buying!
I’m still glad I donated them though. I had my time of enjoying them now someone else will get to.

Ooof felt this one. Find myself anxious from having a tiny bit more than my essentials so I give them away just to buy them back when they need arose and they fit the bill. Then the anxiety comes again about letting it pile up and the cycle starts all over.

100%! Dexluttering is great, but over doing it is just as bad as having too much! I'm always trying to stay in the balance between both ❤

It’s hard to strike the right balance sonetimrs, this is a great reminder

The best way to stop clutter is to stop buying too much stuff.

people should first see if they need and it also depends when lifestyle and our social circles change when declutterring becomes necessary.... ❤❤❤ in 2019 after my home changed and because of the quarantine I realized I was holding on to massive trash that no longer belonged to my like those teenage tight jeans.... makeup that I find jazzy now.... books from my high school, clothes that don't fit me, clothes which cannot be repaired... painting items which are not useful.... things which were useless gifts and I don't like or require them etc etc, declutterring shouldn't be habit but checking back with oneself on what needs to just be let go...
