Subaru Bad CV Axle Diagnosis

How do you know if the front CV axle on your Subaru is bad? Here is how you can tell if your Subaru car has a bad front CV axle. When the front CV axle goes bad on the Subaru, it will make more noise when you turn the steering wheel sharply one way or the other. You may also feel vibration in the wheel well you’re going straight as well. You can also look under the car and see if the CV boots have tears in them and if any of the grease has leaked out. If there are holes in the CV boots, it’s likely that dirt has gotten in there and the grease has all run out of it. To diagnose a bad Subaru CV axle, watch this video, and you will see what I did to find out that the CV axle on my Subaru is bad. Fortunately, it is cheap to fix, and if you want to know how much it costs to fix or replace a bad CV axle on a Subaru, this video will tell you.
Here's where you can get a Subaru repair manual:

The aftermarket axles supposedly suck. What's a lifetime warranty if you have to spend a weekend every 6 months redoing it?

Hi there thank you!! I’m certainly hearing & feeling the vibration when I turn, not driving straight. I’ve assess both the inside & outside boots, neither blown out, no grease spray. My ‘13 Subaru is a manual transmission. Can I still test for the power steering problem you mentioned? I jacked the car up, heard the sound while manually moving tire/ wheel back & forth, not when rotating simply forward or reverse.
I hear the sound & feel it bilaterally though. Could both cv joints have gone out without obvious boot tears?! Thanks again!

I'm getting a bad vibration and heavy clunking from the RF only when accelerating while turning (like getting on it turning onto the highway). Does not do it getting on it going straight.

I'm just getting a "shish, shish shisih." Can't really hear it unless I put the window down and drive alongside a wall.

Hoping to gif it’s bad axels and not a front differential

Bad CV axle can make a clunking sound going straight as you accelerate.
