The sound a bad axle inner CV joint makes

If it clicks like this, check for ripped boots. My inner was torn and dry. Replacing fixed the issue.

1999 B5 S4 (awd)

Sound was coming from mostly corner of car where the axle was located, near the center.

Exactly the sound I heard today thinking something was in my tire then I accelerated out of a junction and now I have a clunk and see a oil stain from the inner cv

I have the same problem with my honda too. I thought was transmission bearing and I put all the new in there. Test drive the problem still there. So now I just order the new cv axle and let see what happen. I thought only me with the problem but is good to hear not only me.

Had work on my suspension done… now i have this noise. I think the inner cv joint popped out when the mechanic let the hub drop. Now im worried im going to have to get a new drive shaft??? Or does it just need some grease??

After watching many videos... This is the exact same situation with me... as i've noticed you are driving straight and when you are accelerating and then applying the breaks the noise produces. And the noise is soo Matched with my car Honda Civic on driver My mechanic already check the breaks, disks and axle... even he took out the inner CV if i'm not wrong its the connector for axle right ? he opened and put some more grease and fit it back.... and only 2 days the sound goes away... . and still i'm facing this issue....

Thanks for the video. This video really helped me to diagnose that the noise comes from my brand new CV axle I replaced only about 5k miles ago. But if inner one is bad, it's difficult to tell which side is bad because the sound comes from the middle. If I sit on driver's side, the noise seems to come from passenger side. If I sit on passenger side, it seems to come from driver's side. All boots are clean and good because they are new. So It's kind of frustrating to figure it out which side to replace. Do not buy Import Direct CV axles from Oreilley. They are junk. If you have a recommendation as to which brand is reliable, please let me know. I do not want to deal with this problem again.

Ive seen many CV shaft videos on my particular problem I believe its my inner joint just from watching your video. I get clicking when I brake even tho wheels are straight. My car has 266K miles on it. But I cant locate if its the drivers side or pass side CV shaft. I will get underneath and grab and check which one is giving me trouble. Thanks

So is that the cv axle shaft bearing bracket making that noise?? Mines sound like that in I’m trying to figure out what the main problem is before I buy anything

I got a 06 325xi manual and it’s making that noise but only when I’m gear and giving a little throttle

I have similar noise in my Mazda 6 but only when braking - 2 clicks when hitting brake pedal and 2 when releasing. The same noise occurs when car is at full stop - hit brakes 2 clicks etc. This never happens when the car/brakes are cold only after a short drive when everything worms up. Going to a garage in few days and they did suggest an inner CV joint over the phone. Do you think its the case or rather brake issue (caliper?) I just want to go in prepared - cant hear anything clunking when turning, driving, reversing no vibrations and the CV boot looks good and dry (MOT done 2 weeks ago so I am sure it would not pass with any damage on the CV boot/joint)

Did this only happen to you under load? My sounds seems to disappear when I press the clutch. Therefore, leading me to believe it either the transmission or cv axle.

Isn’t the clicking a bad outer joint not inner
