I've been doing these things unconsciously for years now, I'm glad that I have good etiquette! My mom raised me well :)

Valuable advice. Viewers: This is not a place for rude comments. Please. Jamila teaches etiquette. Rude comments have no place here.

1:32 That clip is a wonderful example. He feels like someone who is kind, humble, and resepctul, someone who is genuinely interested in you but who will let you choose if you want to trust him, and will not intrude or force himself into your life.

This is super useful. I’m a group fitness instructor and I often interact with people from different backgrounds, health situations, and multi generational families. Body language definitely plays a big role in establishing trust and comfort.

The eye contact became apparent to me after I have caught people staring at me for a really long time, and I remember thinking it was aggressive, rude, as if they didn’t like me (it was a family member at a family gathering.) They were just staring at me and even gave a slight up and down look until I said “why are you staring at me?” Then they looked away without saying anything 😅. I did just ignore the behaviour but made a note to self never to stare at someone in that way during a conversation.

Very useful tips! I always thought that mirroring was only used when you wanted to show empathy, or that eye contact should be continuous. Now I know how and where to use them!💗
Could you make a video on learning and study tips for visual or audio-visual learners?

Your advice on interrupted eye contact and granted smiles are gold. Perfect New Year's resolutions for me. Keep up the great content. Your Etiquette book is fantastic. My wife & daughter think so too. I'm saving opening and reading Afternoon Tea Etiquette. I'm waiting for the celebrations to subside, for the right moment. Happy New Year for tomorrow Jamila!

You're a blessing, and extremely professional on all your video's. Your demeanor is so soft and warm, and your voice is so pleasant . And I must admit, you're very pleasing to my eyes. I could go on, but I think I'll end by saying
Happy New Year!!! 😊

An absolute pleasure watching this video, Jamila! I was absorbing every word. This was in my opinion beyond etiquette and diving into psychology. Also very natural, it is how humans interact whether we are aware or not. I think I did hear about these facts before, this is just put all together to remind me included with additional explanation. Thank you for your exceptional work with the videos for all of us and happy new year!

Definitely agree that the touch has to be used with great caution. In many countries, unless it’s between friends, it would be seen as inappropriate and invading one’s personal space.
When in doubt, avoid it, it is safer that way.
