I love the light in the phone booth illuminating when Lena picks up the phone

I love how Barry awkwardly tries to greet Lena by shaking hands, but Lena just straight up kisses him.

Barry and Lena’s kiss is one of the most iconic shots of all time, and for good reason. What a phenomenal movie.

Bold and sincere classical filmmaking beats all the CGI in the world.

Their being the only two people in that hall until they kiss is a beautiful little touch that warms me much in the same way as in The Producers when the Lincoln Center fountain erupts after Gene Wilder agrees to help Zero Mostel produce a flop.

I find it a struggle to watch it all the way through. Sandler’s character is agony to behold but like raisins in a muffin there are such delights within. Sandler probably should get royalties from carpet cleaners for all the drinks spilled when people see him put the pedal to the metal. Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and this perfect distillation of a man’s hope, longing, loneliness and desperation just perfectly communicated. The director cutting to silhouette so it could be anyone, and both of them forming that little heart shape as they cling to each other.

The first time I watched this movie I thought it was a bit odd. I did not watch it again for a long time. I watched it again a few months after meeting the girl who would eventually become my wife. It perfectly captures the feeling of falling in love when you weren’t expecting it.
