“I don’t like myself sometimes. Can you help me?”

God this scene hits me right in the heart strings

When he smashes the windows, the photos of the sisters all together on the left side wall, and Barry all the way across the room on the right side wall, by himself.

What's kinda sad is that they talk so much about how Barry smashed the windows rather than the fact he was building a dog house for a stray dog

1:11 "Oh, a cake. We have a cake."
I love that line it's little, but Barry went out of his way to get this nice gift for his sister and she doesn't even say thank you. Saying they already have a cake, it's like she's saying what Barry did is worthless and he wasn't good enough. That always rubbed me the wrong way lol

“I don’t know if there is anything wrong because I don’t know how other people are”

That line breaks my heart

Watching this in the context of late-in-life ADHD & ASD diagnosis. The overstimulation, the social anxiety and isolation, the masking—hello signs, I missed you.

The first 20 seconds of him walking in and out of the door to the party is the most relatable 20 seconds in any movie for me.

Society anxiety is a bitch.

This scene alone is better than so many books and movies in their entirety. You don’t know how life-like this scene is and how difficult that is to write detail for detail let alone choreograph into a working movie scene

This is why I see family every half a decade at a 15 min interval per visit. I feel Barry on this!

There's something about this movie that just hits different.

I don't have a sister, yet I'm the eldest brother, but this has got to be the most gut-wrenching scene I have ever seen! There's nothing more painful than being looked down by your own siblings!

I finally understand this scene. This scene shows the lack of empathy and excessive cruelty Barry was subjected to. This mistreatment and abuse is what lead to his anxiety and distorted self image.

That last “gay boy” would’ve sent me over the edge too Barry.

I love how there's no relief or a moment of quietness even after he breaks the window. Just goes to show his frustration and his repression at first.
