i'm a former powerlifter. heavy squats got me strong and immobile. i remember the days of being stiff and sore for 3-4 days after a squat workout. bodyweight squats don't create the same dysfunction.

Squat is a range of motion. And a base for runners, martial artists. Etc. I'll keep my roots bigger than my trunk. Complex movements, snatches, squat thrust presses . I love the athletic mind. We work to be outdoors off grid and aligned w the creator. 🎉

I have a partially torn ACL and meniscus I’m working around. I do 10 minutes a day walking backwards, and 2 sets of 20 reps of deep body weight squats 3 times a week with my heels on a 2x4 so I can get the knees over the toes a bit. I had to work up to this. My knee feels great 98% of the time, but at this stage, I am leery of any jumping or running, because in the not too distant past, before I got to where I am now, a slight jog crossing the street, made my knee feel awful for weeks.

I get what you're trying to convey on this video and I agree with it but I will still train like a bodybuilder twice a week full body and then the rest of the days I'll be training for strength and just training my abilities because I'm 5'6 currently 149 pounds I'm muscular but I still wanna gain weight up to at least 165 pounds, I don't think it will affect my performance if most of my weight is lean muscle I wanna be athletic but also muscular so that's my goal look good but also be athletic

Great video and I agree on all these points. There is a guy on here that has videos on strengthening the lower back after having a herniated disc. I can't remember the name of his channel but the reality is a neurosurgeon that called out Ronnie Coleman for doing squats after twelve back surgeries clearly stated "Doing squats with a ruptured or herniated disc is a big no no" and common sense would tell you he's right as your putting massive load and strain on your entire lumbar region. Even though this guys content means well in trying to help people recover from a herniated disc I truly believe what he is saying and promoting is counterintuitive and very dangerous to the uneducated person that doesn't know any better.

Lee, interesting as ever. As a 65 year old in reasonable shape I would struggle with the jumps and generally high impact moves hence the use of body weight squats and other moves. How do you get from “couch” to those moves safely? Thanks, Ian

So glad to see you openly including scripture in your videos, encouraging people to look into the ancient wisdom of the Bible. What you say is against main stream and being a Follower of the bible makes you go against to mainstream too as you fight against the things of the world as a soldier.

We have endurance muscles, power muscles and strength muscles. Which ones do you want to focus on is the question?

I’ve been dealing with patellar tendonopathy for about 5+ years. To date the primary remedy I’ve found is Spanish squat isometrics and heavy slow isotonics. Has anyone overcome a similar issue with different methods? I’ve tried knees over toes guy stuff but had zero progress and in fact all it did was cause flare ups if I tried to progress anything beyond very low level exercises. I was getting okay progression when using the leg press but once it got to about the 90 pound mark my back started suffering so im done with the leg press.
