Respectfully as a born and bred Londoner, these prices are delusional and ridiculous! They know who they're targeting, not one of these were worth more than £1800 especially not in Hackney of all places, just 10 years ago these flats were £1000 a month. There's no reason it should more than double in that time, except for persons who are duped by "locations" when 15yrs ago these areas were literally the ghetto of London!

It’s fun seeing what the flats are like in London.

Loved this. I think its absolutely insane that these post codes now are an option!! Hackney was an absolute no go zone when I was growing up born 1990. xxx

I was apartment hunting the same time as you, and I literally saw the same apartment 9!!! I went back to check my photos, and yep, exact same flat!

Youtube recommended this video to me today and you got a sub from me! 😍 I appreciated jumping right in, a brief background/context, all the bits overlaid on the screen, and the concise recap of each apartment. QUITE a satisfying video.

Exciting! I found you through your apartment hunting video 2 years ago so really enjoyed seeing a refreshed version! Glad you are happy with staying in your current flat 🩵

Nr 3 was beautiful. So spacious, base floor, nice big windows, off to the secluded side with the private courtyard... a winner to me!

The second place isn’t a “loft”. It’s a space where you put your junk!
The place in Cambridge is priced right and quite nice!
Ghettos in every major city all over, are being fixed up, painted, polished, plant some greenery, then raise the rent! Nice to see these flats, but I’m glad you guys just stayed where you were living and happy😊

Lifelong Londoner here. It's absolutely wild to me how much rents have skyrocketed. Of course the gentrification of working class areas plays a massive part, as does decades of failure to build enough homes for people (affordable ones, anyway - 'luxury' apartment buildings everywhere, and shared ownership schemes in poorly made apartments with rising service charges, leaving people trapped unable to afford or sell them - and a massive lack of social housing...) but also it's just indicative of how exploitative the housing market is as a whole. £2500 for a 2 bedroom flat! Lawd. Landlords are taking people for a ride.
Glad you got to stay in a flat you already like, anyway!

apartment 7 is my personal fave but you're right, it's a bit pricey 💸

I'm glad you're staying inside the same flat here in London! The prices here have skyrocketed here in London over the years and I hope the British government will pay attention to us for building more affordable housing here now instead of later.

Over £2000/month in rent? That is completely insane. 😳

The place you visited where someone was letting the room out through airbnb - I didn't even realise that was allowed for a rented flat? I'm torn myself at the moment as reaching the age (52) that I need to get back on property ladder after 3 year hiatus off it, and also the appeal to buy and let out the spare room is a big thing, so I'm surprised to hear that people are doing it through rentals anyway. I totally get where you're coming from with choosing to use that extra £500 for is absolutely the reason I would rent out a spare ! to be London based, but travel lots is living the dream. Apologies for long message, loved the vlog.... and saw your previous one when you were flat hunting last time

30 years ago I lived in London and had 1 bedroom apartment in a beautiful historic house that was split into 1/2 beds apartments and it was £600 a month, which was on the higher end for a rental. It was beautiful but I moved out of London when I started a family and bought a bigger house.

My best friend still lives in London, she bought a Victorian terraced house on one wage. Crazy how expensive it is now, even her children can’t afford to leave home and I’m just talking about renting, forget buying!

I liked #3 and #6. I'm curious about what is considered spacious. A number of the ones you said were spacious were 500 to 600 square foot range. That seemed smallish to me. I used to live in a one bedroom that was 850 square foot here in Washington, DC and my current two bedroom is 1, 200 square feet. I'm thinking that in London the range of square footage must be relatively smaller.

Great video! What sites (or letting agents) did you use to find these flats? I love all of the different layouts especially the duplexes.

This was interesting. Why do they have 2 bathrooms in tiny flats, is that a his & hers room, rather unnessesary and also small bathrooms are better cos our flat has a big bathroom(what do you need the space for)

Very interesting to see these flats! Love the old brick ones. The old ones always have these very narrow corridors and stairs :) But I will never understand the need of carpet flooring in Britain. I'm amazed you were allowed to film and post these as people are still living in them.

My first flat in London, off London Fields was……gbp 680 a month. We didn’t know lucky we were at the time.
