Just a note for anyone looking in London to rent, once its on Right Move or Zoopla (if its a good apartment) just presume its already gone. You better off, actually having a list of agents saved in the areas you like, and actively messaging them directly as they can show you apartments that they have yet to put on Right move or Zoopla! That is how i have found my current rental! Hope that helps

Tip for anyone moving to London on a budget: London is so well connected that you don't necessarily need to live in the area you work. Living a few extra tube stops or zones away will only add minutes onto your commute but save you money. I live in zone 9 (Essex) and it takes 15 mins by train to East London and 30 mins to central. If I can go from peaceful green fields to the bustling city centre in less than 45 mins, imagine having a tube station near you.

as a Londoner, hearing the places you listed to find properties in sounded insane😅 ridiculously expensive anyway, but must have been wild in the current market! glad you found a place :)

I am literally going through this exact process right now and seeing that I'm not alone in it is encouraging! It's such a crazy market, and I'm happy you found a flat you love!

I totally understand how frustrating it is to find a flat/room, god it's so stressful. I really admire you for not giving up.
I myself had to find a room to rent and it's true that being a foreigner it is even harder, but not impossible at the end of the day!

I have been watching your videos for 6 years now and this definitely one my favorites. The vibe is so chill and mature. I love what you’re doing and your development. Thank you for continuous content, greetings from Berlin xx

Just to reassure, these are NOT representative neighbourhoods in London wrt price.
They were kinda zones 1 to 1.3 if you know what I mean- all pretty high end areas. Another 2 miles further out (towards the west would be Fulham, Olympia, Queens Park, Clapham) might only mean an extra 3 stops on the tube to work and might be 70% of the cost. Still great areas mind.

The fact that you have to put in offers on rent is nuts to me. In Germany, this would never ever be a thing. The landlord decides on the rent and everyone knows they have to pay this exact rent. Not perfect, because the rent may still be high, but better than bidding wars on rentals. Crazy.

Oh my goodness girl, we've been through the same Journey these past few weeks! I was totally exhausted by London flat hunting and had nothing more to give and thankfully bagged something last week! its a total mine field. So glad you've both found somewhere <3

London's rental market is incredibly fast moving at the moment, I am so glad you managed to find a new home - I am so sorry it took so long for you. I hope you settle in comfortably and get to enjoy your new home!

21 and able to pay £2, 000 per month? You are incredibly fortunate to be so affluent at such a young age. Most young people do not have those funds and tend to have to house share in zones 3 and beyond. Enjoy your new home

This is why I moved to Brighton. I love London - I’m a diehard London girl but I can have the apartment I want (even though Brighton isn’t much cheaper these only a 50min (or less) direct train to LDN

I’m shocked at how affordable these modern apartments are! I’m just a jaded New Yorker though 🤣😭

I feel you and I don't even live in a big city like London. Me and my girlfriend hunted for an Apartment in Bonn, Germany, for like four month. Since I am still in Uni we did not have a lot of budget and the companies never accepted my child support, BAföG (financial support from the government for students) and parental mantainance as income. So we only had my girlfriends income, who recently started working full time and didn't earn that much. And most wanted to see an income of 3-4 times the rent, which is insane. Many would not even accept parental insurence (that they are going to pay if we fall short).
We ended up in a nice flat at the end, with only a few downsides. It is more far out of the center than we wanted (30 min. with bus) and is on the third floor without a lift. But it has a big balcony thst we love and we got a parking lot in a underground garage with it😊

it’s part of the British building regs to have an extractor fan, they might be breaking the law, depending on when the house was converted. Look at the shutters in apt. 5!!
