I was born and raised in the south but had never heard this southern version of this very popular tune until these very talented young musicians gave this rendition at a Civil War reenactment in Houston, Missouri in the fall of 2010. The Yankees are trying to win by controlling the media. But it is still to early to tell.

I was eleven when I first watched this video now im 22. And I keep coming back time and time again. It's crazy to think how much since then.

That young lady has the voice of an angel. I wish she'd do more.

she has the voice of an angel accompanied by a young fiddler who I am sure will both grow up to make their parents proud - just wonderful - they should do more

The pipes on that young woman, she certainly can sing; and as the grandson of a methodist choir director & tennor, I must say, she can hold the tune quite nicely.

Somebody track down this lady, ask her for more songs. She's a voice like an angel

that is a great version of the tune. I had a distant realative who fought for the south in a german regiment ( since he was from austria-hungary- Bohemia) he lost everything when the south lost in 1865, so he went home, sadly the next year he got caught up in the biggest battle of that century in Konnigratz /Sadowa( around Hradec Kralovy today) in 1866 and was killed, but had many kids before then thankfully

Well I am an Indian, and thus have no emotions abt the US and the war. But still the song seems inspirational. The girl's voice is amazing. The feminine tone makes one remember that there is a lot of good in this world which is worth fighting for.
