"A Musical Time Machine" - the music of the 2nd South Carolina String Band. I'm a "late comer" to your music and videos, but a big fan. I can not, will not accept the story that the South was an evil empire. It - does - not - make -  sense !!  The music is an insight into the times, the era, the day of the Civil conflict. My gut tells me the people, the Southern people, are being greatly maligned by a bunch of modern-day "Carpet Baggers". May God bless those who fought and gave full measure to their beliefs.

Greetings, from Russia, to all Americans who glorify their ancestors, no matter under what flag he fought for his people!

Born in Georgia, raised in Tennessee, my family from Arkansas, via Britain. I'll never be ashamed of being Southern. You boys are so talented. Keep our tradition alive!

7:35 It's heartening to see two generations carrying on the tradition of their ancestors. May the spirit of the South live on forever!

As a russian who lives in Russia i wanna say one thing:

"A nation that does not know its past has no future" (Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov - a Russian polymath, scientist and writer)
I am wholeheartedly with the South and Dixie!

Having been born and raised in Denmark, I have no direct connection to Southern culture, but this just about brought a tear to my eye. In these times of political tyranny, mass emigration and social alienation, it is beautiful to see people with a knowledge of who they are and a willingness to passionately defend it. I still hold out a small hope for a turnaround on our side of the pond, and will die before seeing my country fall to the silken-clad fist of globalism, but I am heartened by the knowledge that the South still know and defend their roots, in spite of those who seek to erase them.

I'm a 4th-generation Japanese-American from the West Coast. No real ties to the South and my ancestors obviously weren't around for the Civil War, though they arrived not too long after. I find Southern history and culture fascinating, if only because it is so stigmatized everyone else in the county (and in the world, frankly). Good on you for preserving your traditions.

The 2nd South Carolina String Band has provided me a much better education over the Civil War era than school ever did.

As a Filipino who lived in South Carolina for only a year, it always has a special place in my heart! It was the first U.S. State I called home, and the people are one of the jolliest and nicest folks I've seen. If I had the choice between California and Good Ole' South Carolina, South Carolina shall be my choice! God bless Dixieland!

the only thing that pisses me off about this video is that I wasn't there. What a truly, beautiful, blessed, unique culture you southerners have. Keep it alive now more than ever.

Tears from Scotland. It brings me great pride seeing my cousins rejoice in their history. No matter what they throw at us. We will always endure.

Please, do not forget the 10.000 italians who volunteered and fought for the Confederacy.
The militia of Louisiana had an italian guards battalion, later renamed 6th Regiment European Brigade, and other companies within regiments from Alabama, Virginia, Tennessee and Louisiana.
General William Booth Taliaferro served in the Confederate Army as well as the commanders of the 6th Regiment European Brigade, Lt.Della Valle, Captain Marzoni, Captain Santini, First Lieutenant Marinoni and Second Lieutenant Baselli.
Thank you from Italy for remembering them.
