While I agree a second, third, four, whatever citizenship is not a cure all it can bring tax, liability, and some level of privacy (most from private groups not so much governments) advantages. All the "first" world countries including the USA have citizen by investment.

USCIS administers the EB-5 Program. Under this program, investors (and their spouses and unmarried children under 21) are eligible to apply for lawful permanent residence (become a Green Card holder).

Plus some people want to change their citizenship or have a backup plan just in case. So yes it is not for everyone and yes it is not a fix all for everything, but many people attack CBI as totally shady or wrong. It really depends on your situation. Also if you are an American traveling parts of the world are rather dangerous on an American passport.

I personally see no advantage coming to Thailand as an American on a non American passport unless you hold Thai citizenship too. But there are almost 200 other countries.

Second point - You mention you are dual national - Many US retirees would like to be dual nationals, but the first requirement is a JOB - I do not need a JOB, I am very happily RETIRED. SO, why the idiotic requirement..??

You support Racism..?? I am am American in Thailand over 20 years. My daughters have dual nationality - so you agree that they should be taken aside because they either do not appear to be American or Thai..?? How about yourself..??
